“Any gossip I should be aware of?” is the first thing Kara says as she hops into Jordan’s gyrodyne.
“You assuming that I would have gossip to give you is a new and interesting thought” replies Jordan with a quiet laugh.
“Hey! I have been off server for a week now, and you said you would be making more of an effort to stretch your wings, to hang out with other people while I was away.”
Jordan shrugs his shoulders a little, he will give her that, “Okay fair, but still, when have I ever been one to gossip.”
“Now now, don’t act like you’re some kind of saint just because you’re Captain Sparklez.”
“Uck, don’t say my name like that.”
Kara just laughs.
“Okay yes, I am not immune to a little bit of tea spilling every now and then, but I am not going to ever be one to bring it up.”
“First of all, please don’t phrase it like that, I know you don’t like to keep up on, well, anything but calling it spilling tea is about at least five years too old, even for you. Secondly, I know you’re not one to bring stuff up like that unprompted, that’s why I did it for you,” Kara pauses, letting them fly in silence for ten seconds at most, giving Jordan the false sense of security that he would have some time to focus on the map and flying to this new place before he had to scrounge up something he had heard in passing during the last week that he could pass off as gossip,
“And thirdly, talking about you stretching your wings, I would love some kind of proof you did have some kind of social interaction – preferably one that didn’t just appear at your base or was small talk with anyone else in the Queendom right next to you.”
She’s thorough, he’ll give her that. “Okay okay, just give me a second to search my memory.”
“Alright you old man.”
“Okay yeah, I ran into Shab at the sand tower and he mentioned that Speedy has gone and gotten herself a boyfriend.”
“Oh shit, really? Another one? She really needs to leave some for the rest of us.”
Jordan makes a face at that, thankful he and Kara are facing the same direction, “She already has a boyfriend?”
“Are you serious? You’ve been around them too, Speedy and her boyfriends who trails after her like she’s Jesus Christ.”
Jordan thinks for a moment, “Do you mean Sidearms because I really think of them as trailing after each other in an equal way. I also didn’t know they were dating.”
That gets a laugh out of Kara, “Okay the first thing you said is fair but the second thing isn’t, they might not be dating, I honestly have no idea but Side is still one of her boyfriends. Along with both Slack and Skadj.”
“Skadj, really?”
“I mean he denies it but the guy is more than half way to smitten town.”
“Well I guess you know him best.”
“I sure do,” the smugness in her voice is louder than it’s ever been, “Okay but who is this new boyfriend of Speedy’s? Or is this just both you and Shab being behind the times?”
“There is a real possibility that he could have been talking about Skadj – or one of the others, although I do think a specific person was mentioned? Possibly something to do with being a hermit crab? Or I maybe the conversation had moved onto a new biome by then?”
Kara shakes her head, “You’re useless, did you know that?”
“I feel like you should have picked up on that fact by now,” replies Jordan as his eyes widen, “Okay I think we have made it! The new beach exploration area, you ready to adventure?”
“Yeah you dork, I’m ready to adventure.”
