"Eddie," Buck breathes out, bile rising at the back of his throat. He shakes Eddie by the head again, lightly tapping his cheek. "Eddie, please."

But right now, as he is alive, laying underneath Buck in the hospital elevator. This could be it. He could bleed out, right now, despite Buck’s insistent efforts to keep him stable. He could utter the words on his lips and feel his soul chase him to hell, but with Buck’s hand on his cheek and eyes locked on his own, he wouldn’t have it any other way.
Tonight, he is alive.
“Buck,” he stutters, low and whisper-like. He blinks back at Buck, kneeling over him, the raw blue of his eyes and the soft pink of his lips.
And the red, the red he feels in his chest as they lay beside one another. He squeezes his hand around Buck’s, as he looks him in the eyes with all the focus he can muster.

The white hot pain, the darkness threatening to enter his vision. It was all so familiar, that in a weird way, it was almost comforting.
His other hand reached out for the elevator button, pressing it rapidly. He chose to ignore the trail of blood his fingers left behind in the process.

“You say that a lot,” Eddie laughs, making Buck wonder if he’s lost his mind completely. Maybe he should check his temperature again.
“Eddie.”
“Come on. We’ve already raised one kid together,” Eddie says, a fond smile replacing the grimace of pain that has been harboring his face since Buck found him. “What’s another one?”

Hen smirks but then her voice comes out even softer than before. She sees that the radio is still on, whoever was on the other side was still listening.
‘’Was this the first time you said it? Out loud I mean?’’
‘’Yeah. And it figures it’s to you. My big gay guru.’’

He'd spent so long worrying about Theo being too much for Eddie to handle, the familiar type of worry that Buck livid with in himself daily… He hadn't prepared for how he'll feel when it's not a problem at all. Buck slides his phone out of his pocket, his hands shaking as he takes a photo of the sight. He never wanted to lose this moment.
Buck quickly tried to shove the tears that were beginning to fall down his cheeks away, as Eddie blinked awake.
The feeling almost does Buck under.
OR; Buck has his first shift back at work since taking Theo in his care. Eddie steps up to the 'challenge' to help the man he loves. And just like loving Buck, he finds it's not much of a challenge at all.
