Chapter Text
Pokemon and People have coexisted since the beginning of time, and for the People of Teyvat, there's something new stirring up every day.
Take Mondstat for example.
A calm, often quiet land ruled by the Anemo Archon.
And yet, after an elusive, yet powerful traveller stepped foot into its lands and defeated a great dragon that tormented the city of Mondstat for so long, their footprint has yet to dissappear.
Many wish to step foot in the same path this traveller took,
But for one Unlucky Adventurer, his path is just about to begin.

Bennett's alarm was broken, again. Of course it was.
Many unsuccessful years of being unable to find a starter for around 6 years did little to stamp out his kindling spirit. So today should be the day.
If he could wake up on time.
The Adventurer blinked awake, sunlight streaming in through an open window, Pidgey's chirping their melodies outside, even if it consided of just their name and a couple other words.
Misfortune followed the young Adventurer like a monster stalking him at every move, this morning, it decided to strike by messing up his alarm. So as he turned to blink blearily at the time, he shot up out of bed, the covers were already off so he didn't need to make any more of a mess.
"Nonononono! I can't be late AGAIN!!" He gasped, jumping out of bed and making a hurry to grab his clothes and get washed all at the same time. He equipped a blue and white striped T-shirt and his shorts, hastily grabbing his lucky hat and backpack and running as fast as he could outside, not caring for the storm he probably had just caused as he ran.
His Dads' (who were downstairs all half asleep) didn't make much notice as their adoptive child hurriedly made his way out of the door.
One of them may have noticed, but it was far too late for them to say good bye and good luck, so they mumbled something and went back to snoozing.
As he raced through Springvale, he noticed all sorts of pokemon and their trainers. Klee playing with a Torchic whilst Albedo and his Sandshrew watched from a careful distance. Mika seemingly just talking a stroll with his Glaceon. Mona scrying the stars with her Milotic close by..
The young adventurer couldn't stop for a break yet however, he was in a rushed mindset, but it still placed thoughts in his mind.
He seemed to not just be the only member of Benny's adventure team, but the only kid without a pokemon in all of Mondstat. Heck, even Timmie had his Pidgeys.
He was alone, but he wasn't all that lonely.
As Bennett raced through down the road to Mondstat, he spied a figure adorned in a gothic black dress, her blonde hair blowing in the wind.
Fischl stood by the bridge into Mondstat, watching the water below her ripple and dance the sun's light. Her Corviknight Oz standing by her side.
The investigator heard somebody running at full speed into Mondstat, and she turned around to see whoever it was, (although, she had a good idea on who the approacher could be.)
"Ah. Bennett. The Unlucky Adventurer. What must you need can be done with a single word in my presence. For I, Prinzessin der Verurteilung-"
"Not right now Fischl - I'm in a hurry!" Bennett responded in a rush, running past the Pidgey's on the bridge and causing them to squawk and flutter away in a large cloud, Timmie making an annoyed sound as he did.
Fischl stood there, her mouth left open as if she were to continue, but she simply huffed, flicking her hair and pouting. Oz staring at where he'd rushed past.
The young Adventurer raced through Mondstat, feeling hot and sweaty after pelting at full speed towards the Adventurers Guild, where Katheryne stood as cool as ever. Her Rotom flickering around her.
"Ad Astra Abyssosque. Welcome to the Adventurers Guild. Bennett." Katheryne bowed politely, her rotom also flickering over to him,
"Hello young Adventurer! You seem fatuiged." It hovered over to him, Bennett having to catch his breath before finally speaking.
"Katheryne! Rotom! Hello! Is today finally the day? Am I able to get a starter?" He gasped for air, still out of breath. He'd been delayed of a starter pokemon for almost seven years now, wether it was that none of them liked him or ran away, or something else entirely. Just his bad luck acting up again.
Katheryne blinked, her face going a little somber, which was strange since she didn't usually show too much expression.
"I am sorry Bennett, but due to previous circumstances of your, even accidental mistreatment of Pókemon - you do not qualify for a starter." She stated, Bennett's eyes widening.
"What?? What previous Circumstances??"
"Possible problems may include, Accidentally cindering a Bulbasur's vines off, breaking a part of a Squirtles tail off-" As she spoke, the Rotom flickered pictures up of each pokemon mentioned, Bennett having to cut her off at some point.
"That was only one time! Please Katheryne? Have some mercy..." He could've pleaded, but he wouldn't have changed the receptionists mind, as she simply shook her head and sighed.
"Sorry again. I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day." Katheryne returned to her standing position, Bennett staying very still, before sighing and walking off.
Another unlucky year alone then..

The Cats tail was quiet today. Other than the cats of course.
Diona wandered around, keeping to herself as she cleaned up. Her blue T-shirt was messed up with cat fluff, her ears twitching as she heard the ring of the bell, still wearing her cryo vision. She huffed as she saw Bennett walk on through.
"Ah. A new(ish) customer... came to play TGC?" Diona set down her broom, Prince the Purrloin making a small sound as the young girl walked over to him. The young Adventurer shaking his head.
"No thanks Diona.. I'll have a glass of water thanks. I'll pay you back."
The young Adventurer sat down, keeping quiet and watching as Diona walked over to a tap, holding a glass and poured some water into it.
"You want ice with this?" She'd call out, Bennett shaking his head
"No thanks, especially if it costs more."
"Well, the Ice is free. It's not really that hard to get Ice is it?" She huffed, throwing in some ice and walking over to him.
"Three Mora please." She held out her small hand, Bennett digging into a pocket and bringing out the said amount of cash. The young bartender taking it greatfully.
"Wonderful. You seem er... Glum, today. Something gone wrong?" Diona meowed perspectively, The young Adventurer freezing up before nodding slowly.
"Yeah... uh, I still haven't got a starter Pokemon, and I don't think I will for a while.."
"Oh, that's a shame. Prince showed up at my doorstep one day, maybe that'll happen to you?"
"My luck isn't that good though... The chances of that happening to me must be around one in a million!"
"Oh well, too bad so sad." Diona sighed, her tail swishing behind her as she scratched her Purrloins head.
"Have you even got any Pokeballs on you? You could catch one if that counts?" She suggested, shrugging and returning back to her duties.
Like a small spark had ignited in Bennett's mind, he shot up, his eyes wide,
"Yeah! You're right! I could go catch a pokemon! How hard can it be? I'll see you around Diona!" He waved, before darting out of the door, leaving the water on the chair.
Diona simply stared, turning to her Purrloin and shrugging, before picking up her broom and continuing to work.
"That boy is going to end up either alone or in big trouble... what do you think Prince?
The Purrloin meowed an approval.

Fischl stood by the bridge, after successfully scaring both Timmie and his Pidgey's away, she found herself rather bored. Perhaps a look in the library could ease her mind.
As she was about to summon Oz to escort her to the Library, a sudden call alerted her as something hurled past the Prinzessin.
She was about to react, but found she didn't heed to, as whatever it was tripped and tumbled past her with little grace.
Bennett was laying tumbled on the ground, staring up at the sky for a moment, before sitting up and rubbing his head. He seemed to pause, before springing up, causing Fischl to step back.
"Fischl!! Have you got any pokeballs? I need them, desperately. This could be my shot at getting a starter!!" He spoke quickly, Fischl staring at him before flicking her hair dramatically.
"Why yes! Of course I do! You may have as many you choose. For I am a gracious prinzessen. And I shall treat all my subjects with grace!" She smiled, handing him one from a small bag that hung from her waist.
The young Adventurer took it into his hands, throwing it and catching it in his palm. This could truly be it... if he could find a pokemon worth catching, he would!
Bennett smiled, taking Fischl's gloved hand into his and shaking it lightly.
"Thank you so much Fischl, truly. You're one of the best friends I could ask for!" He grinned, Fischl blinked at him, her face almost softening.
"Well, thank you too, Bennett." Her green eyes gazed at him for a while, the young Adventurer a little stunned at her sudden switchup in character.
Fischl suddenly straightened, her eyes widening as she returned to her posture.
"I-I mean- I welcome your thanks deeply dear subject! I shall take it with pride as I rule my far away kingdom! F-from afar!" She smiled, her eyes twinkling with Mischief, Oz cawing a response.
Bennett smiled, adjusting his cap and waving.
"See you around Fischl!" He grinned as he sprinted away. Fischl left in quite the daze as he hurried away, before silently sighing and walking into Mondstat, home of the Anemo Archon..
