Hero’s Journal

Summary:

Hero gets a journal for his birthday.

01/01/2000

I don’t really know what to put here…

Today is my 15th birthday. My parents decided to get me a diary, or a journal (probably??).

This is the first page. The first day I’m 15.

It feels different… like i’m more mature. It’s kinda weird.

I was never a writer. I prefer cooking, and cleaning, that domestic stuff.

My parents want me to be a nurse… But I kinda wanna be a chef. Mari encorages  encourages me to be a chef, and so do the others. Maybe it’ll all work out in the future, right?

They’re cutting the cake now. I’ll write some more tomorrow.

01/02/2000

I almost forgot I had this… This still feels a bit new, and kinda weird, since I never really write about myself. My feelings. That’s what a journal (or diary, I don’t know) is for, right? I should add this to a part of my schedule…

It feels somewhat off, turning 15. It’s like the world just shifts a bit. I feel more mature. I just hope nothing bad happens in the future. Like someone dying.

Nevermind. I shouldn’t write that. Hopefully I don’t jinx it…

My mom is calling me for dinner now. I should go.

Hopefully I look back on this pages and smile! Maybe it’ll all go uphill after this, right?

Hero helps a sick Mari. He writes about it.

01/03/2000

My day was busy… Well, not that busy, but still busy. It was my day of chores today. I was shoveling snow with Kel, though. My parents make the both of us shovel. Kel kept on pelting snowballs at me, and my face still feels kinda sore…

Other than that, I went to Mari’s house today! Sunny was out with his dad, so it was only Mari, Mari’s mom (Mrs. Fujoka Fujioka), Mari’s cat (Mewo), and me. Mari has a fever, so I came over to help!

She was playing the piano when I came in, which I find concerning. She’s trying really hard to practice her piano for her recital.. I tell her that she should stress about it when it’s closer to the recital date, which is all the way in October. It’s January. She insists that the more she practices, the better it’ll be.

I had to drag her out of her piano room, and give her medicine. She’s so stubborn… Mari never really lets others worry about her, which worries me. But other than that, everything was alright. I made her soup, and tucked her in… That’s basically all.

Hero writes about Aubrey and Mari’s familial-like relationship.

Mari almost cried today.

She said that Aubrey accidentally called her ‘mom.’ 

Mari is a motherly girl, especially to our friend group. Aubrey’s mother doesn’t act like a mother. So Mari acts like one for Aubrey.

And she’s doing great at it. Aubrey is so happy around her…

I know Aubrey would probably never tell anyone this, but I think she sees me and Mari as parents.

I’m so proud of Mari. And I’m so proud of Aubrey.
If she really does see us as parents, I might even shed a tear…

I think we’re doing okay, at least. Hopefully.
