Sylus
Part-elf Witcher with innate psionics, presenting with the abilities of the Aether Core in his eye. If not innate from birth, his psionics could be acquired during an encounter as a reference to his LADS anecdote story, or could have been developed or enhanced by his Witcher Trials, maybe from Elder Blood. His Witcher training parallels his childhood in the Wanderer gladiator ring in LADS. He would probably create his own Witcher School: Raven, Dragon, etc. He has a scouting, hunting, massager crow, or some other type of bird, which could also be magical in some way. He is wanted by various mages, spy masters, politicians, and religious cults, among others. Similarly to Geralt, he claims to be a lone wolf and that he does not get involved in things, but he always ends up in the middle of every situation he passes because "it just seemed to happen", like how he somehow ended up with twin boys, Luke and Keiran, following him around. Luke and Keiran are mutants experimented on by a mage (EVER), which altered the appearance of one twin. After the twins' escape, they were initially in a gang before joining Sylus (there's more to this... I'll have to reread their story). Sylus is secretly a softie when it comes to people in need. He has a strong distaste for Hanzas (criminal gangs), Havekar/Hawkers (violent smugglers), and any people who use their power to manipulate and hurt others. He often finds subtle ways to undermine them without appearing to be a direct adversary, or he uses other explanations as excuses to neutralize them so as not to look political. Like all Witchers, he can heal quickly, has enhanced senses, and can use Signs (Evol). What he does, he does for coin. He develops an intricate and expansive network of resources, informants, allies, and individuals that owe him favors throughout the land. Sylus meets MC again, rather by coincidence, as they are both hired to investigate and deal with a rather nasty monster. When he realizes she does not remember him, he fears she may have been experimented on or manipulated in some way, so he has her prove herself. Once they are reunited, he trains her in the ways of a Witcher. Sylus is the nom de guerre he uses as a Witcher, as it is easier for clients. Sylus knows that he and MC are tied together (Elder Blood/Soul/Aether Core).
Caleb
A human werewolf (weredog) therianthrope who was born a cursed one or changed as a child through a curse, and can fully control his ability to change at will. He lived as an outcast through his youth with MC. Due to the discovery as a child of his unique affinity to retain control in his transformed state, even during the full moon, he was experimented on by a mage (EVER). He is turned into a variant type of mutant assassin. He was manipulated with psionics, and they made it look like he had died in an explosion (boomshakalaka). The blast led to the loss of his arm, and it was later magically replaced by the mage, but it is hidden in illusory magic, as it no longer looks the same as before (metal arm). He can use some signs (Evol). The experiments also cause his control to waver during the three nights around the full moon, which now has a pull on him. Despite the mutation, he still retains a normal human appearance when he is not in his animalistic form, allowing him to rise through the ranks of regular soldiers to a Grandmaster Knight (colonel). His new position enables him to be used as a spy agent with a handler (EVER) capable of subtly influencing his mind using magic (mental chip). He continues to secretly and desperately seek a cure for his therianthropy despite his condition not appearing to be the result of a curse, and therefore, without a known treatment. He hides his therianthropy even among those who can help, as he knows deep down that the only thing that can be done is to have him killed if he loses control, a fate he is resigned to if it comes to it. He reencounters MC while on a military campaign, which is actually a cover for a secret endeavor for the Intelligence Service, as she is investigating. This creates a rift when MC sees the lengths he is willing to go, but Caleb obsessively believes he can protect her by any means he deems necessary. Caleb knows that his handler suspects MC of having Elder Blood.
Zayne
A quarter-elf archmage, pellar (doctor), and soothsayer (Foreseer). He has developed his own special form of ice magic (Evol) through years of research. It is volatile, but very powerful. Its unstable nature creates a magical ailment of black ice crystals, which he is trying to develop a way to control. He has experience in divination, but the result of his ability to see the future is that he can, at times, lose control of himself, resulting in him waking to find he is elsewhere without knowing what transpired (Dawnbreaker). His magic comes from his lineage, but he could easily pass as a full human. He studied for many years as a barber-surgeon and healer specializing in magical afflictions and experimental treatments for otherwise condemning prognoses. He specializes in cases of those who have been hurt or cursed by monsters (Wanderers) and other mages (EVER). He seems apathetic and resigned to patients he cannot treat, believing death can be a mercy. His parents are both barber-surgeon healers who travel to help refugees affected by war. They helped MC when she was found after losing her memories as a child. At that time, Zayne's magic was still untrained, as he had a much greater magical affinity than his parents, and they did not know how to teach him to control it. This resulted in an incident where he accidentally used his magic against MC. Afterwards, he enrolled in Ban Ard Academy to gain mastery of his power. Later, he attended the Oxenfurt Academy, becoming the youngest medical graduate in history. He is haunted by a magical event resulting in the death of a peer. He comes across MC again after a particularly bloody battle with a monster, injuring her. Zayne teaches her techniques to control and utilize her destabilized magic and visions after tending to her wounds. Zayne knows that MC is an oracle and suspects that it comes from the presence of Elder Blood. The god Astra is definitely involved in manipulating events.
Xavier
An elven prince and sage (Aen Saevherne) from a dispersed and fallen elven kingdom dating back to the Conjunction of the Spheres. Because he is a sage, he recognizes that MC has Elder Blood. Disguised under an alias (Lumiere), he uses ancient light magic abilities (Evol) and skills as a warrior (Hunter) to protect the other elves and hunt monsters (Wanderers) that threaten the last of his people as a sort of folk hero. He often sabotages smugglers and elven slave traders. Occasionally, he makes some attempts to pass as human when he chooses to provide information or work together with human allies (Hunter Association) to face common enemies. He is always trying to find ways to create a new home for his people where they can live without fear and in freedom. He is one to play the political long game and is more calculating than he seems. He is not a Scoia'tael (elven guerrilla terrorist) and doesn't believe in sacrificing humans to benefit elves, despite not caring much about humans overall. He can be ruthless despite appearances to the contrary, often uninterested in helping creatures that are cursed or turned into monsters. In disguise, he saved MC from a monster when she was a child, inspiring her to be a hunter. He and MC cross paths during an encounter with a monster in the woods after she is separated from her party, and Xavier is clearing a path for displaced elven refugees whose last residence was discovered and destroyed in a battle between two warring human armies. They often work and train together when convenient.
Rafayel
A merperson with Sea Magic (Evol) that has transformed his tail into legs (like Sh'eenaz; common ability among Sea Witches) initially because he is curious about the surface world. The people of his kingdom were decimated by humanity (basically, if the Witcher story A Little Sacrifice/The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep went wrong, and had no romance plot). As a child, he chanced upon MC before she lost her memory, sparking his initial curiosity about the surface. The misdeeds of other surface dwellers quickly jade his interest. He becomes a traveling bard (artist) to seek and collect information that may aid his dwindling people, having to coexist with humans despite his animosity and resentment. He is stronger than he lets on and is a skilled fighter. He uses both fire and illusory magic. He is basically an angrier and more calculating Jaskier/Dandelion with angst. Rafayel is actually a nom de plume or stage name. He has a Great Sea name, but chooses not to use it as he disguises his true identity. The only things that can crack his mask of either joviality or indifference are threats to the Great Sea civilization. MC is the only surface dweller he does not hate. MC happens upon Rafayel while investigating a magical disturbance that Rafayel is wrapped up in. He still seems suspiciously involved, but he plays it off and covers for himself. She looks into him and interrogates him. He ends up helping her to defeat the threat. He starts following her around despite her protests, claiming to need inspiration and that she is his muse. He also offers to pay her handsomely to be his hired sword, attempting to sweeten the deal.
MC
She would be a half-elf, so she is an outcast like Caleb, potentially with Elder Blood, which explains her unique affinity for magic (Evol). Sylus may also have Elder Blood to show their soul bond; otherwise, he may be a carrier. The Elder Blood (Aether Core) explains the potential interest in MC, what makes her unique, and why mages (EVER) want to experiment on her. She may have been tested as a Witcher with Sylus before they realized she was a girl with magical ability and Sight from her Elder Blood. MC receives visions of the past as an oracle deriving from her Elder Blood. They are initially found together with other orphans fighting a monster or in a combat arena conducted by aristocrats. A mage (EVER) shows up to collect her from the witchers for "training" after intercepting the Witchers' letter to Aretuza. Sylus realizes that something is wrong by using his psionics. Once they are on the road out of sight of the Witchers, the mage moves her to a transport with other children, including Caleb. She and Caleb are brought to a mage's hidden tower and experimented on with other children. Sylus sneaks out of Kaer Morhen after the trials, but before his training is complete, to help her. He uses his new senses to track her, and when he finds her, he helps her make a plan to escape. He detonates an explosion, and the children run for it in all different directions as she ushers them out. She ends up lost in the woods, unsure which way to go, losing track of both Caleb and Sylus in the resulting chaos. Some of the other children are recaptured. Sylus searches for her in vain, and after verifying she was at the very least not recaptured, Sylus returns to Kaer Morhen to finish his training so that he might be of greater use to her when they are reunited. She has an encounter in Brokilon, either drinking from the waters or the queen realizing what she is and stopping her before she is turned into a nymph. Her lips barely touch the liquid, slightly enhancing her with the attributes of nymphs, and she trains with them for a time. This is a way for her to lose her memory, and could be followed by her first meeting with Zayne after being found unconscious on the edge of the woods by Josephine and treated by Zayne's parents. Josephine, a witch and therefore also an outcast, was tasked with bringing MC and Caleb back; however, she chose to harbor them instead. MC grows up as a hunter [lit.] and dreams of being a Royal Hunter, an organized traveling special forces officer dealing with lesser monsters. Josphine might send her to spend some time in the temple of Melitele, training with the priestesses to control her mind and power, or to Aretuza. MC may also have been made of interest to Aretuza and invited to study. As an adult, she works as a scout hunter (Hunter) to help protect people from the dangers of the road and forest.
