Work Text:

The sound of Mono and Six fighting had given Eight a pounding headache. Currently the sweater girl was ransacking the cupboards in the kitchen area.

A few Nomes watched her, making confused chirps. Eight screamed and threw an empty bottle of painkillers on the floor. She felt like her head was about to explode with how hard it was pounding, not to mention her vision was starting to go blurry. Whether it be with tears or with some sort of hallucination, she wasn’t sure.

Eight made a mental note she needed to go back to the Pale City’s mannequin infested hospital and get more medicine. She climbed off the counter, still able to hear Six and Mono’s fighting. She was at her limit.

Seven wasn’t here at the moment, having gone out to find something, probably some gift for her.

Eight marched into the bedroom, throwing the empty pill bottle at the two kids that where screaming at each other.

“Shut the hell up!” Eight screamed over them. Mono and Six paused and turned to look at the girl, she looked livid.

Mono picked up the pill bottle, giving it a glance. “Painkillers?”

“That bottle was full a little bit ago, I’ve used all of them because of your constant fighting! I’ve had it up to here with you two!” Eight took a short breath before beginning to go off at TV boy and Beelzebub. “You two do nothing but fight, I’ve run out of patience! If you two can’t get along I’m going to kick you both out of here! No more food, no more safe place, no more constant care.”

Mono turned into Six, who was staring at Eight dumbfounded. She didn’t know the sweater girl actually had a backbone and with how mad she looked… Six knew she actually meant it. Of course, Six tried not to care but losing food sounded… awful? Losing the safe place to return to after hunts actually sounded horrible.

Six was just staring at Eight, lost in a swirl of emotions. She shouldn’t care this much about the threat of getting kicked out! Was she going soft?

“Do you understand?” That phrase from Eight snapped Six back to reality.

“No more fights. Just get along… I don’t care who dropped who, who broke whose music box. I don’t care.” Eight took a deep breath to steady herself. “If you must fight, take it outside.”

Mono nodded his head, mumbling some apology. Six on the other hand had a look of pure anger on her face, her feelings had settled on anger. How dare Eight threaten her!

“You can’t kick-“ Six couldn’t even get the words out before a sharp pain hit her cheek.

Eight had hit her.

“This is MY home, I make the rules.” Eight was standing over her now. Mono had backed up a little, Six visibly getting more and more angry.

“I don’t care! I live here too!” The girl in the raincoat shot back. The two girls simply stared at each other for a moment before Eight groaned.

“You’re so crazy powerful, right? Go live on your own then!” Eight pointed towards the exit, she was actually standing her ground for once. Not bending to Six’s every ask like she normally did.

Six was upset. That was obvious. How dare this bitch defy her! Trying to kick her out? How rude! But it made her wonder just how bad was that headache? If a headache pushed her to actually have a spine for once…

“Unless you want to just shut up and apologize.” Eight’s voice cut through Six’s thoughts yet again. Her arm was lowered now and she was looking towards Mono who was standing awkwardly in the corner.

“That goes for you too.” Eight paused, grabbing Six by the arm and pushing her towards Mono. “Apologize. Both of you. Come on.”

The silence was deafening.

“Sorry for breaking your music box.” Mono mumbled.

“Say it like you mean it.” Eight sighed, rubbing her temples.

“Six,” The boy started, taking a deep breath. “I’m sorry I broke your music box.”

Six had a big scowl on her face. Eight glared at her, lord when did her eyes get that scary looking?

“Sorry…” Six grumbled.

“Sorry for..?” Eight urged her to continue.

“Sorry for dropping you.” Six spat, not apologetic what so ever.

“Thank you.” Mono put his hand out for Six to shake. “Can we be friends again.”

Six stared at the bag boys hand, swatting it away. “We can be acquaintances at best.”

Eight sighed, “Good enough.” She began to walk back to the kitchen, her headache seemed to be subsiding.

“Food will be done soon!”

Notes:

Six genuinely cares about Seven, Eight, and Mono, she just doesn’t know how to actually feel those feelings so she suppresses them into anger most of the time.
Sigh, she’s so me coded.
