Work Text:
Neither Akiha nor Fujino were especially cheerful people. Akiha was perpetually dour, while Fujino was an agorophobic misanthrope. If one was to pick a natural place to find them, it might be a library. Or, if not that, perhaps a large mansion on a rainy day.
Hardly anyone would pick a sunny beach in the middle of summer.
But that’s where they were. It was the result of optimistic summer plans gone wrong. Or perhaps not entirely fun. They had visited the beach already and it hadn’t been a bad time. But now they were back in their seaside cabin with little desire to go back outside until it was time for dinner. And with the sun at its apex, that was still a while off.
So, with a grin, Fujino suggested something. “Why don’t I hypnotize you?”
Somehow, that was not something they had done together yet. As soon as Fujino brought it up, Akiha was surprised by that fact. It wasn’t something that she had thought much about, but in retrospect, it felt obvious. With how much Fujino loved taking control, and with how much control Akiha gave away, it was natural.
Still, she was apprehensive. “I’m not sure…”
“If you’re worried about what I have plans, don’t be. Hypnosis can’t make you do things you don’t want to do. I can explain how that works, if you want.”
“No, it’s not that,” Akiha said, shaking her head. “I just… It’s more control than I’ve given up before. Would I even be awake for that? It’s like falling asleep, right?”
“Well, sort of. Here, let me just try it. I won’t do anything, but you can get some idea of how it feels.”
Akiha mulled over it for a few seconds, but then eventually nodded. “Okay.”
Fujino was already prepared. She sat down on the bed next to Akiha and pulled out a pendant from her pocket. “Okay, now keep your eyes on this and listen to me.”
Just a couple minutes, Akiha was in a trance. Her eyes were still open, if lidded, but they were glazed over. Fujino could tell it had worked. Now, her plan was to leave Akiha like that for a minute or two longer before waking her up. It really would just be to demonstrate what it felt like.
Plus, it gave her a chance to appreciate how cute Akiha looked when she was in a trance. That was the real point of it, for her.
But she didn’t want to leave Akiha like that for too long. So rather than continue waiting, she did the second part of her goal with this initial trance. She set two commands for Akiha. One to wake her from the trance and one to put her back into it. Standard things, really, but she wanted to set that up ahead of time. She knew Akiha would be pleased when she woke up, so this was just saving time.
Finally, she awoke Akiha.
She took a few moments to recover. But once she had, she said, “That was… an interesting experience. Not quite what I had expected.”
“But did you enjoy it,” Fujino asked? “I can go further with it.”
“I… What would you do? This is a little more than roleplay, you know.”
“It is, yes. But it’s similar. We’re still acting out a scene. I can just make it more convincing.”
“I suppose… What can you do with this, then? Make me believe I’m someone else?”
“Yes, that. Or change the way you talk. I think I could even alter your perceptions, but that might be a little difficult.”
“I see…” Akiha nodded, then fell silent for a little bit. She seemed to be considering it. Fujino was pleased with that. She would rather Akiha take her time to consider this than rush to accept or deny her.
“We don’t need to do any more right now, if you don’t want to. We can come back to this after dinner. Maybe even another day, if that’s what you would prefer.”
“Yes, that sounds better. Ask me again after dinner. We can go from there.”
“Yes, we can.” Fujino smiled. “I’m glad you’re so open to it, though. At first, I thought you would reject the idea entirely.”
Akiha smiled back. “Don’t worry. As long as it’s something you’re enthusiastic about, I wouldn’t reject it wholesale.”
“I appreciate that.”
As they fell silent, Akiha stood up and walked over to the window. The sun was still shining; dinner was still hours away. “Perhaps we should go for another walk outside, in the meantime.”
