Work Text:
“You look lovely,” Seungcheol appears out of nowhere and kisses his cheek, hand at the small of his back. His lips linger on his skin.
Joshua startles, if only slightly before leaning into the touch.
“Our very handsome boyfriend,” Jeonghan somehow shows up from the same nothingness Seungcheol did. He nimbly takes over clipping the necklace from Joshua’s hands where he struggles - no surprise with the sudden interruption - smoothing it to rest nicely against his skin.
If Joshua shivers, it’s only because he’s still reeling from suddenly being crowded like this.
“There, perfect,” Seungcheol comes to stand in front of him, tugging slightly at the pendant hanging on the necklace. He blocks the mirror from his view but if he says he fixed it to be centered, Joshua trusts him. One of Seungcheol’s hands now occupies his waist, the other side taken by Jeonghan while he presses kiss after kiss to Joshua’s neck.
“What got into you two?” he chuckles, flattered yet suspicious, “And you both look very handsome too.”
Jeonghan hums in appreciation, not answering his question. Seungcheol pecks his lips, once - then twice.
“I love this shade on you,” Joshua whispers, his hands patting down the lapels of Seungcheol’s gray suit, “And I’m glad you take my suggestions so seriously.”
Jeonghan lightly nips at his ear. Sure, him wearing an all black set, from the suit to the shirt to the socks and tie, is a direct result of Joshua mentioning he’d love to see it, but he doesn’t need to be so smug about it.
“Seriously, though,” Joshua wriggles, trying to free himself from being squeezed between his boyfriends. He did not not notice how they pressed closer. “What’s up with you?”
And yet he lets Seungcheol cup his jaw and tilt his head, lets him control the kiss, lets him conquer his mouth. He moans softly as Jeonghan continues his generous attention to his neck, gently sucking on each and every sweet spot without forgetting any or leaving marks. He respects Joshua’s preference and saves it for when he’s granted access to places where the love bites won’t be visible to anyone but them. If he leaves them on his thighs, Joshua mostly just rolls his eyes and acts huffy. But he caught him secretly admiring the patches of color in the mirror later quite a few times.
“Cheol, Han,” Joshua sighs when Seungcheol finally pulls back to let him breathe, “Please.”
Jeonghan hooks his chin over his shoulder innocently, Seungcheol smiles, his hand slides up to his cheek. Joshua’s never had a problem holding an eye contact, not with these two anyway. He prides himself on being the one to easily fluster them with gaze alone. But now, somehow, that is no longer true. It doesn’t help that Jeonghan’s arms pull him closer, wrapped snuggly around his middle. The weight of Seungcheol’s other hand resting on his ribcage is as grounding as it is distracting from trying to collect what little thoughts Jeonghan’s touch didn’t make a mess of.
“What? We can’t compliment our boyfriend?” Jeonghan teases.
“We just appreciate the effort you put into looking pretty for us,” Seungcheol hums in agreement.
Joshua scoffs. He doesn’t have a good feeling about this - yet that feeling is growing weaker and weaker every second. They’re both teases and their behavior should always be first suspected of some underlying motives before they go out for a date. Especially if Joshua decides to wear anything slightly revealing. But with the way they look at him, the way they refuse to stop touching him, it melts his flimsy guard down into nothingness.
“Okay,” he murmurs, pouting a little in a last ditch effort to awaken their conscience if they do have some agenda that they’re hiding from him.
“Cute,” Jeonghan pecks his cheek, pulling him flush against his front. Seungcheol further invades his space as well, forehead resting against Joshua’s.
“This looks a lot like you don’t really appreciate the effort,” he babbles, trying to ease the tension in the air, “More like you want to ruin all of it.”
“Nothing like that,” Jeonghan reassures him, a gentle whisper against his skin.
“You’re so busy lately,” Seungcheol takes his turn in pouting, “We missed you.”
Maybe Joshua is easy. Or maybe his boyfriends just know him too well. His smile softens as he finally allows himself to fully relax into his boyfriends’ embrace.
“I missed you too,” he sighs, “So much. So why am I not the one all over you?”
“Because you took too long getting ready,” Jeonghan blows cold air behind his ear, but Joshua is properly trapped between them to take any revenge or do more than whine, “Maybe if you settled on the first outfit instead of the fifth one.”
“But Jeonghan, wasn’t it cute? ‘Oh I think Cheol said he doesn’t like this one’, so precious,” the oldest teases, squeezing Joshua’s cheek while his skin grows more flushed, “And I didn’t say I don’t like it. I said I liked the other better, that’s all.”
“How long have you been watching me?” Joshua complains. He tries not to feel embarrassed but he did in fact spend way too long picking his outfit, trying shirt after shirt, then deciding he hates it anyway and starting all over again. He’s unsuccessful, though, especially because Jeonghan’s estimate is very tame compared to reality.
“Long enough to know you’re not wearing anything underneath,” Seungcheol smirks, teasing his finger across the exposed skin of Joshua’s chest.
“It was a very nice view,” Jeonghan presses a kiss to his temple.
“You’re so mean,” Joshua sulks, “You could’ve said something.”
“We’re saying it all now,” Jeonghan chuckles.
Seungcheol hums, his eyes try to meet Joshua’s but the younger remains stubborn. Definitely stubborn and not shy. As if his boyfriends can’t see through him.
“You really do look breathtaking,” Seungcheol whispers, voice earnest, finally catching a glimpse of Joshua’s doe eyes.
“Is it wrong we wanted to admire you silently?” Jeonghan hums, head leaned against Joshua’s. He leans into the touch.
“You just don’t usually do that,” Joshua admits, “I didn’t know how to react.”
They hold him in silence, only their heartbeats drumming through their clothes and making him feel like he’s been set on fire. Somehow it’s worse than if they were undressing him - literally or just with their eyes. Joshua was looking forward to the date, to trying the food at the restaurant he heard so much about and had to book the reservation months in advance, but he finds himself hoping that they’d ask to stay home instead.
He truly did miss them. Among their busy schedules that don’t always line up, it’s rare to have a full evening to spend together. Maybe this would be better - to lie tangled together in their shared bed, with soft touches and softer words. That’s something they can’t have in public. Not like their public appearances through work allow for much intimacy, of course, but at least they’re together. They’re still to some extent spending quality time together. And while Joshua’s not overly pushy about physical contact, he misses it. He misses loving on Jeonghan and Seungcheol behind closed doors, truly and properly alone with them, just as much as he misses them clinging to him.
“Careful, baby,” Jeonghan brings him out of his thoughts. Only then does Joshua realize how much he’s melted into his lovers’ embrace.
He collects himself, smiling gently at Seungcheol fussing over him. As if he could get as deadly sick as Seungcheol seems to think he is in the five minutes he spaced out for. He takes it, though, and soaks up the attention for a minute.
“I’m fine, Cheollie,” Joshua finally gets control back over his body and takes his boyfriend’s hand into his, “Just felt really nice. It’s been a while.”
“We’ve been neglecting you,” the eldest pouts immediately. Joshua rolls his eyes fondly.
“We’ve all been neglecting each other,” he insists. Jeonghan hums meaningfully behind him. Judging from the shift in Seungcheol’s gaze from desperate to downright on the verge of losing his mind, whatever expression Jeonghan is wearing Joshua needs to see.
Before he can turn in his hold, however, Jeonghan pecks his cheek and pulls away himself. Joshua misses the warmth of his body instantly, pressing closer to Seungcheol to make up for the loss.
“We’ll be late,” their usually mischievous boyfriend reminds them, “We can cuddle later.”
They can - they will. But Joshua still finds it hard to part from the warm embrace he’s held in. More so that Seungcheol is even more reluctant and squeezes him harder. And he gets it - he really does. Especially because the oldest of them is also the clingiest. So how could he let go of him when such a simple act as hugging his boyfriends for longer than a second became a luxury these past weeks? Instead he lies his head on Seungcheol’s shoulder.
Seconds - or minutes? - tick by. Yet Jeonghan just watches them, his gaze dripping with love. The youngest has half a mind to invite him back. As if reading his mind, though…
“Remember the dessert menu,” Jeonghan smiles knowingly, watching Joshua’s eyes light up.
Seungcheol knows he lost. So he at least steals the grand prize and claims Joshua’s lips in a quick kiss before letting him go.
Despite the newfound excitement, however, it doesn’t feel right to Joshua to separate. But then Jeonghan mentions the pasta he’s been looking forward to ordering and maybe he can be patient for a while longer. Seeing how things are going, it’s not like they’ll manage to keep their hands off each other anyway.
True to his expectations, he doesn’t make it one step away before Seungcheol takes his hand and lets their fingers intertwine. So Joshua takes the liberty of pulling his other boyfriend closer by his waist. Jeonghan doesn’t fight it, doesn’t so much as tease him for being clingy, simply indulging him and asking for another compliment since he so generously dressed as Joshua suggested.
It makes him feel reassured. Though his eyes still linger on the front door as they get into the car.
