Work Text:
Cold rainy night, October. Since when is it so damn cold in October? Chuuya cursed under his breath as he hurried his steps to get to his apartment, the morning was warm damn it! When he stumbled into the staircase and skipped every second step to make his way to the apartment faster he tripped over some kind of humanoid figure and fell right under his own door.
"what the hell-!" Chuuya cut himself off as he glared towards the figure that he tripped over, his gaze first took in the messy brown hair and coat that were drenched in rain, then to the pale skin and finally to the face of the man, eyes closed, lips parted and slightly blueish, the man was clearly unconscious. "reckless bastard" he just hissed.
He couldn't just leave the man here, maybe Osamu was an idiot and his rival but his feelings wouldn't let him abandon him in this state. Chuuya's body dragged itself up and he opened his apartment doors, then he went back to the Edge of the staircase, gripped Dazai by his clothes and dragged him up, well tried to, he was much heavier than when they were in the Port Mafia, much healthier. He couldn't help but smile when he felt the weight to Dazai, the ADA was really doing him good, weren't they? He couldn't stay mad at him for leaving without a word back then if it actually helped him. Chuuya after good 10 minutes of struggling managed to lift Dazai up and carry him into the warm apartment though while going for the couch he nearly dropped Osamu along the way. Eventually he got Dazai onto the couch and began stripping him from the wet clothes. He had so many questions and even less answers.
Now was the part he dreaded, taking off Dazai's soaked bandages. He had to because if he didn't the man would probably get horribly sick - if he wasn't already - but he never really saw Dazai without the bandages before. While yes when they were teenagers he sometimes changed his bandages or helped him get them back on but never really saw Dazai without all of those and it felt weird to not get his consent to get them off but it would be pointless to drag this and let Dazai stay in those soaked rags, they stank anyways and he suspected that the damn mackerel wouldn't wake up until the next morning since he nearly froze himself to death under his door.
"shitty mackerel, better be grateful for this later." Chuuya hissed under his breath and slowly pried away Dazai's bandages from his right arm, it wasn't a shocking nor disgusting sight, he actually admired Dazai's strength and what he went through, hate was just easier to admit. When he was done with the arms his hands moved to Dazai's neck, I should've started with this, chuuya thought, after all wet and cold bandages on his neck could get him to even lose his voice, at least the man would shut up. His hands were gentle like touching something very delicate that could shatter at a harsher touch. After struggling through neck and chest bandages the rest was just a formality - dazai's legs. It was certainly easier than his neck and chest.
Chuuya hurried through the room to dump out the old, wet and stinky bandages, along the way he grabbed some of fluffy blankets he had and some of Dazai's clothes that Dazai oh-so-conveniently left behind every time he invited himself over, dressing Dazai up was goddamn awful, the man was huge and putting that shirt over his head without accidentally suffocating him to death was like a ticking bomb he tried to defuse on the last mission though he knew that freak would probably love to suffocate. Osamu Dazai is a damn annoying bastard but there was still that fondness he buried deep inside his heart that was now unraveling when Dazai was so.. vulnerable. He came under his apartment door for a reason, right? He could be imagining things but it had to be at least a little bit of trust that the stinky fish put has into him. Chuuya shook his head to snap himself out of the train of thoughts, he tucked Dazai into the fluffy winter blanket making sure every limb was covered. The last thing he did was get a small towel and warmed it up on a radiator just to put onto Dazai's forehead, he wasn't exactly a medic but that was what Kouyou used to do for Chuuya when he got cold after missions.
That's when it hit him, while taking care of this bandaged bastard making sure he wouldn't freeze to death chuuya forgot to even change his own drenched and cold clothes. This man was trying to get to his head even while unconscious, he swore he'd punch the shit out of him when he finally wakes up. Chuuya was quick to get out of his wet clothes and throw them into the washing machine along with Dazai's clothes just for the sake of it. Chuuya took a warm long shower, his strawberry shampoo filled the bathroom, he wasn't into fruity shampoos and all but it was a gift from Higuchi back when he had his birthday and well, since he finally ran out of his usual shampoos he used the one from Higuchi, he might or might not have loved it because it made his hair really soft and it finally worked with him in the mornings. The shower was finished with a touch of warming body lotion he put on himself, that too was from Higuchi and was also strawberry scented, he always knew she loved strawberries so he never complained whenever he got strawberry themed gifts, it was a sweet personal touch of hers.
Chuuya finally got out of the bathroom, steam was so thick it nearly activated the fire alarm. He still had a towel on his wet hair, he had that red pajamas set on himself that worked surprisingly well with his hair and some dog slippers on his feet, as much as he swore it was another gift from one of his fellow executives or maybe from Gin - everyone knew he bought those himself, they just never said that in front of him. He made his way back to the living room and his mismatched eyes fell onto Dazai who was now half awake hiding more under the thick blanket and still very much cold.
"Awake already, huh?" Chuuya hummed quietly, the house felt so quiet and cozy making him nearly drowsy. "Let me heat up the towel again while you tell me what on earth were you doing unconscious under my door, hm?"
Chuuya reached out and took the towel, he put it onto the radiator before sitting on the edge of the bed, his hand pulling up higher the blanket. "So? Or did the cat get your tongue?" Chuuya said but with no bite behind his words.
"It's nothing much really.. I've been out drinking a little, just the usual you know. Unfortunately for me I wandered out far into the city and the cold and rain caught up to me! So I decided to get onto my loyal dog's porch knowing he'll take me in!" Dazai said nearly as cheerfully as he'd usually sound but instead it was replaced with exhaustion and small shivers of how cold he still was.
"Next time I'll leave you to freeze to death fucker." Chuuya hissed and took the still half cold towel and slapped onto Dazai's face. Nakahara stood up and turned to leave but Dazai's hand gripping his wrist stopped him dead in his tracks.
"Chuuya should be a good dog and cuddle me tonight so he doesn't find a frozen corpse on his couch tomorrow" Dazai fake whined in that characteristic for him overdramatic way before tugging Chuuya closer.
And damn him because Chuuya actually folded. "Just this once" He gritted through his teeth and made his way under the blanket, his head resting next to Dazai's on the pillow but slowly he closed the distance and eventually cuddled up to Dazai. He got really drowsy the moment his head hit the pillow, he didn't realize how exhausting today's both work and taking care of Dazai was.
"Try something weird and you're dead." Chuuya groaned and yet he was already half asleep with Dazai in his arms. It have been so long since the last time he got to hold the man like this, probably even going back to their Port Mafia times. Small quiet snores escped chuuya's lips, it was all just how Dazai planned it, even if at the cost of his own health, he knew that he'd probably lose his head though if chuuya found out he did this just to cuddle with calm chuuya to sleep while rain slammed into the windows creating a comforting ambience.
And in the end when the morning rolled in it was Chuuya who got sick, though Dazai took the responsibility of Chuuya's sick state and took some time off from work to care for the man's health his cooking nearly rolled them both into the ER the same day.
