CHAT IGNORE HOW FAR BEHIND I AM I DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO WRITE THIS

Work Text:

In Pelican town, you didn’t have a lot of opportunities to relax. Between your exhausting farming duties and the tireless effort you’d been putting into the community center, you usually tried to spend your free time by yourself (lest you get dragged into someone’s quest for iron or green beans or something). After a morning of fishing by the ocean, you were hoping to get through town as quickly as possible, but you only made it as far as the bridge before running into someone else- luckily, it just so happened to be your friend, Elliott.

“Oh hello! I didn’t expect you to be coming back so soon.” He glanced at your fish cooler. “Was it a bountiful harvest?”

“You could say that. I’m sure Willy’s happy to have so much fish for- uh, whatever he does with them.”

“Ah, well done! As much as I love the ocean breeze I don’t quite have the endurance for fishing. I’d much rather observe.”

You sighed. “It definitely takes a lot out of me. It’s only what, 3? And I’m already in need of a nap.”

Elliott’s smile turned into concern. “Is there any way I can help?”

“Honestly I just need to unwind a little.”

“Well, you’re in luck- this is one of my favorite spots to relax. Take a seat!”

You followed his instruction, hoisting yourself up onto the stony edge of the bridge. He looked back at you, smiling.

“From here, you can take in all the sounds of the ocean and this stream while the murmur of town grounds you to the moment. Close your eyes, it’ll help.”

“Wow, Elliott, you really sound like a writer right now.”

“I’d hope so!” He chuckled. “Are you feeling any better?”

“I think I will, if you stay with me.”

“Always.”
