Work Text:

To Yi Sang, dedication was not a strange concept. Prior to his employment at Limbus Company, he spent most of his time absorbed in his research, hardly ever leaving his seat unless his friends nagged him to.

Thus explained the first Sinner’s focused gaze on the piece of paper before him, folded neatly into a heart. Its soft hue of pink stood out distinctly on the dark fabric of the company uniform. Yi Sang tried his utmost to avoid accidentally crumpling the surface of the heart, wanting it to be as perfect as possible.

The Sinner took a quick glance at his surroundings, searching for the familiar silhouette of his silver-haired co-worker. The intended recipient of the papercraft in his hands was nowhere to be found across the front of the bus. Yi Sang sighed, unsure whether out of distraught or relief. On one hand, he did want to express his feelings to Faust; on the other hand, he lacked the courage to do it. He silently debated for a moment, looking down at the paper heart.

At last, he made up his mind.
------------------------------------
The second Sinner blinked once. Then twice. Her eyes, ever unchanging, carefully watched the hands of the first Sinner extended towards her. In his palms laid a paper heart.

Faust slowly looked up from the papercraft to face the dark-haired Sinner. There was a slight blush on Yi Sang’s face, perhaps from nervousness; his eyes, although tired, conveyed an emotion that could be described as ‘longing’. Or, had Faust been bolder, she might have even suggested it was something she herself had experienced before: ‘love’. The thought, though fleeting, did linger at the back of her mind, yet vanished as swiftly as it had arisen.

She turned away and headed outside the bus.
------------------------------------
Approximately fifteen minutes later, Faust returned.

Her uniform was stained with blood, some even stuck on her hair, yet she appeared to pay no mind to this. She set down her sword near the bus door, holding in her left hand a soiled company jacket, and in her right, a human heart. She approached Yi Sang, and presented the human heart to him.

The first Sinner remained silent for a long time; his gaze, absent-minded, fixed upon the hand of his co-worker. His eyes shifted downwards to his paper heart, then upwards at her again.

Without a single word, Yi Sang fainted.
