Summary
Jaskier, heartbroken after a failed affair with a prince, wanders into a mist-shrouded seaside town that seems too pristine and quiet to be real. When he tries to leave, the mayor lures him into a trap, drugging and delivering him as a sacrificial offering meant to keep an ancient sea beast asleep beneath the waves. Bound to a rune-carved rock, Jaskier witnesses the awakening of the colossal kraken, an impossible creature with beating red eyes and a vast, intelligent presence that feels hauntingly familiar. As it studies him with something like recognition, terror gives way to a strange, intimate connection, leaving Jaskier suspended between awe, fear, and an inexplicable pull toward the monstrous being that claims him as its own.
