“I saw you through the window and had to come talk to you,” he says easily, one corner of his mouth quirking, like that entire sentence doesn’t send her thoughts screeching to a halt.
She grins, slow and steady, the weight of his words settling between them. Somehow, against all odds, Belly wasn’t the one to fold in five seconds. She opens her mouth to tell him that, to gloat, to ask him to take her home and devour her.
