"He was overly pale and covered all over with grime and injury, but still clearly beautiful beneath it all. His full dark hair, wild and loose, was obscuring most of his face, but Will could almost make out the strong nose and elegant angles hiding underneath.
When Will came to stand in front of him, he’d at first been as insensible as the rest of the prisoners, then hearing Will start to turn away on his heel, his chin had raised.
At the sight Will let out a soft gasp. Because the firm gaze of the Hearthian captive was as bright and fervent as any soldier in the heat of battle, nothing at all like his cellmates who’d all slowly acquiesced to the hopeless atmosphere of despair.
