Work Text:

Countless days of having to experience the same nightmare over and over again. The image was drilled into his brain, he would never be able to forget it. How the blood painted the streets, Logan's expression.

He was done with this.

And he was going to do anything he could to make it stop for once.

He knew how it went.

Wake up in Logan's bedroom, remember yesterday's failure, rush downstairs to check if he's still here, still hoping some day he'll be.

Check, he's gone.

Turn on his phone, 9:34 a.m.

Pace around the living room until he comes back. He thought about his decision, was he really going to do it? Yes. Anything to make him stop suffering over and over again.

He hears the car and then Logan enters through the door. He'd gone through this a thousand times.

“Virgil–”

“You have to go somewhere?” He interrupts him, entirely sure.

“Y- Yes, how'd you know?” Logan asked, confused.

9:39 a.m.

“Just a lucky guess.”

Same park. Same street. Same everything.

He was used to it, yet every time he arrived here and witnessed the tragedy, it shocked him as if it was the first time.

He waited for Logan to come back, once again couldn't convince him, but it didn't matter, it would all end soon.

10:15 a.m.

He spotted him and quickly ran towards him. He had to get him out of there in time, even if it cost him everything.

He grabbed him by the wrist. “You have to go, we've done this before.”

“What? That's impossible.”

“Well, it's the truth, whether you believe me or not. Let's go somewhere else.” He tugged at his wrist quickly. He can't lose him again.

He started to hear the truck. The sound that haunted him each time he woke up on a new day.

“Virgil, breathe. Calm down.” Logan said.

“I can't lose you again.” Tears started to form in his eyes.

The sound is getting closer.

“How would you lose me? I'm right here.”

He heard it getting closer and closer.

“Please stay safe.” He pushed him with all his force and saw the headlights blind his eyes. This is what Logan experienced over and over, even though he didn't know.

The impact hit him hard. It was a truck, after all. His body (obviously) couldn't handle the strike and gave up.

Hopefully this would be finally over and Logan could finally live in peace.

10:19 a.m.

Logan fell on the grass of the place beside the sidewalk. he watched in shock as life was taken away from the man he loved.

Blood painted the scene, except this time it wasn't Logan's, it was Virgil's. And Virgil couldn't be more glad about that.
