Work Text:

Janus’ been noticing Patton's lies. Even though he says ‘lying is wrong’, he's been guilty of it multiple times, especially these past days. He's been lying to himself and others and that had to change.

“Why did you call me here?” Said Patton, looking around the forest. “It's such a weird place.” He placed his hand on the rough bark.

“We need to talk about something.” Janus said. “Something related to what I am, or what you guys see me as. Deceit. Lying.” He placed a hand in his chest dramatically.

“Uh… and what does that have to do with me?” He said, confused.

“Oh, Patton. Don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about.” He took one step closer to Patton, who was sitting on the dirt floor.

Patton looked up at him. “But I don't know what you're talking about.”

“You have been hiding your feelings.” He said in a raised tone, but not too much as to not scare Patton and make him not trust him. “You do that quite a lot, actually, but it's been more of an issue lately.”

“Wh– What?” He laughed lightly. “I– I don't do that.”

“Oh, really?” Janus raised an eyebrow. He cleared his throat, “I'm never sad!” He said, mimicking Patton's voice.

Patton stayed silent.

“You lied to the others, or at least, tried to lie about how you were feeling at that moment. And how did that work out?”

“Not well…” Patton said, a sad look in his eyes, a reflection into his soul.

“I know it might be hard, but you have to stop lying to yourself.” He said in a soft tone. “It's scary to face your feelings, but you have to do it, not right now, but when you're ready.”

Patton nodded.

“Let's get out of here.” Patton said, standing up with Janus’ help.

“You need some rest.”
