compromise

Summary:

Janus disguises as Patton to trap Roman and try to reach a compromise (and maybe more).

Prompt #23 "I believe in us."

Notes:

im pretty sure im missing tags but I can't think of what to add right now

I wrote this really quickly sorry for any mistakes

this is based off of that untrained ruikasa card from the problematic event (rmd) I don't know if it's bad that this fic is based off of that card and I don't really remember what the context around the card is but I really wanted to make a fic based on that card

this is a mess sorry

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Roman and Patton stood alongside each other, Patton just slightly behind, in front of the worn wooden door. Behind that door is something both of them weren't exactly sure how they would take down, but they were ready to risk everything for their freedom. For their town.

Roman gripped his beautifully manicured sword, and Patton held a shield, he wasn't sure what he was going to do with it, but he would definitely try.

“I believe in us.” Patton said.

“Me too. Let's go, we can do this.”

“My heart's beating kind of fast.” He chuckled lightly.

Roman took one step. He gripped his sword harder and kicked down the door. He was ready for this.

Then it all went black.

He woke up. The first sensation he felt was pain. His head was pounding with pain. The second thing he noticed after that was the fact that his hands were tied behind his back, and it was a tight knot. His whole body was in pain and he couldn't remember why. He was in a dark place, so the only thing he could focus on were the sensations on his body.

He saw a dark figure come close and kneel down to be eye to eye with him. The figure lit up a lantern and Roman immediately recognized who it was. Why wouldn't he? That half-snake face is recognizable everywhere.

The half-snake guy was Janus. Who they were trying to break free from.

“Did you really believe that?” He covered his mouth, laughing at him. “Oh, Roman, it never fails to amaze me how easily you fall for these things.”

“What do you want?” Roman hissed.

“I just wanted to talk.” Janus said. “Maybe we could come to a compromise. You look really cute like this, I should trick you more.” He added, messing with Roman's hair.

“Oh, shut up. Let me go!” He tugged, trying to free himself from the rope.

“Don't tire yourself, it's useless to fight.” He placed the lantern on the floor between them. “As I was saying, I have some… offers for you.”

Roman stopped fighting. He didn't know what Janus might do to him if he kept trying to free himself, so he decided to listen. Maybe they can agree on something. “Continue…” He said, fearfully.

“Don't be so scared, I would never do anything bad to you.” Roman couldn't tell if that was a lie or not, but he guessed it probably was, based on all his past experiences with Janus. “I think we should try to work together, instead of against each other. We would make a great team."

“And why should I believe you? You literally just kidnapped me.”

“I'll just point out that you aren't trying to run away.”

What is that supposed to mean?

“Anyways,” He continued, “my second offer is, something more…” He pulled Roman by the collar, “intimate.”

Having Janus' breath on his ear wasn't something he was really against, but he would never admit that.

“What do you think, Roman?”

Roman couldn't form a single word, he could barely process what was happening and now his life-long enemy was offering to make peace (and more) with him.

“I mean… if that's what'll get you to be fair with us, with my people, then I guess.” It was so obvious he wasn't doing it for his people, at least not just for them, this was for himself.

“I know you want this so bad, Roman. Stop lying to yourself.”

Roman sighed. “Okay.”

“'Okay’ what?” He wanted to hear it directly from his mouth.

“Okay, I accept both of your offers.” He said. Not exactly what Janus wanted to hear, but still an acceptable answer.

“Well then, want to start right now?”

What?

“I'm joking, obviously.” He clarified. “Maybe?”

“Get me out of these, first.” He tugged at the rope.

“That's where all the fun is but okay.” He pouted.

“Oh man, I'm starting to regret this.”
