Summary
Katniss stops me in front of a towering tree. I'm struck with the fact that I can actually make out its top; usually, all I can see when I look up in the woods is a clustered blur of dark green. Single, tiny leaves jumble together in layers above our heads, sprouting from slender yellow stalks attached to the tree's highest branches.
"You look like you're in love with that tree!" Katniss calls out from behind me. I swivel around and fix my eyes on her again, enormously grateful that the glasses have kept her face and body defined for me under the shadows of vegetation.
"The tree's pretty nice," I admit in a low voice, stepping towards her. "But I've only ever been in love with you."
