Work Text:

Out of all the people in the band who would be a demon, Jim was probably the last member on the list. Sure he liked creepy things but he himself wasn’t creepy. Or satanic for that matter. How he actually became a demon was up for discussion but no one knew about the fact that he was one. Except Corey; because Corey knew everything about Jim.

It was actually really odd and maybe a little disturbing how Corey actually found out but he knew, and he also knew to keep his mouth shut. Corey had walked in on Jim pre-show one night to find him feasting on a random stagehand. It was more than a bit shocking seeing him drenched in blood, teeth sank deep into the side of the poor guy’s neck, sucking him dry. But honestly, Corey had seen some weird shit in his life, so this was just another thing to add to the list.

Jim begged Corey not to say anything, and Corey obliged like usual because who was he to turn in his lover for doing some fucked up shit behind people’s backs? Nah, not him. Plus, coming to terms with the concept that Jim was a blood thirsty creature was almost comical. Jim was too polite for that kind of shit; always with his please and thank yous, Corey almost burst out laughing just at the thought. But it was fine; because at least if he had to deal with a demon, it could be the most down to earth timid person known to man.

Jim’s secret was kept under wraps successfully until one day at the studio. The band came in for a recording session and Jim was the last one to arrive, sneaking in the back door hoping no one except Corey would discover him; he always did. It worked, until it didn’t.

The second Corey saw Jim, he did a double take. “Where the fuck have you been?” He questioned with wide eyes and a concerned look on his face.

Jim just stared back in silence, eyes equally wide and a bit nervous. “What do you mean?” He asked and swallowed when he watched his boyfriend roll his eyes in return.

“Are you fucking kidding me?” Corey exclaimed, voice low in hushed tones as to avoid drawing attention to the both of them. “You're covered in blood! Your entire beard is soaked, it’s fucking dripping!

Jim’s eyes grew even wider and he glanced down to find that what the singer was saying was in fact true. “Shit…” He grumbled. “I didn’t think about that-“

“How did you not think about that? How did you not notice?”

“I was hungry-“ Jim’s voice was nothing but a mournful whimper, like he was being scolded for his wrongdoing.

Corey sighed heavily and grabbed Jim’s hand, “We need to find a bathroom and get you cleaned up; you can’t go in there looking like that-“

“Looking like what?”

Both men stopped dead in their tracks when they heard a voice from behind them. Corey peered over his shoulder to see Mick standing behind them and just about shit his pants. “Fuck…” He cursed to himself under his breath so only he could hear it.

“Nothing-“ Corey quickly answered, trying to escape the question. He turned his attention to Jim, “Come on.” He said, grabbing his wrist about to high tail it out of there, even turning his head back to yell, “Shouldn’t you be playing guitar or something?”

Mick totally ignored the question to answer another burning question. “Is that blood?”

Corey’s eyes just about popped out of their sockets; fuck, how did Mick see that? Both men stood still while Mick walked around to face them head on. He stopped and stared with a funny look on his face. “That’s blood.” He stated, confused.

Jim just stood there like a deer in headlights not knowing what to say while Corey tried to play it off as cool. “He bit his tongue, it’s no big deal.”

Mick wasn’t buying it, Corey could tell. He stood there awfully suspicious of both the lead singer and the guitarist. “That’s a lot of blood for just, biting your tongue…” He pointed out.

“Well he’s fine, don’t worry about it.” Corey blurted out and elbowed Jim who was quick to chime in. “Yeah I’m fine, no need to worry.”

Mick’s brows were knitted together, he still wasn’t buying it. “No, I don’t think-“

“Whoa! Dude, what happened to you?” Joey was in shock in a good and bad way while he stopped to access Jim’s face.

“He just-“

“Bit his tongue.”

Corey started but Mick finished. Joey’s eyes bounced back and forth between the three of them. “Dude, does he bite?”

“No he doesn’t bite, it’s fine!”

The four of them fell silent for a half a minute before Joey burst out with a laugh, “Ha! That’s a good one. But I know what you're getting at-“ He glanced at the three of them waiting for the lightbulb to appear over their heads too but when it didn’t, he filled them in. “It's Halloween, duh!” He smacked his forehead for added effect.

Corey burst out laughing to hide the fact that maybe, just maybe Joey was onto something. “You’re right!” He agreed.

A giant smile appeared across Joey’s face while he clapped Jim on the shoulder just standing there in anticipation of getting caught. “Nice dude, trying to look the part! Well, you got me good!”

Jim breathed a sigh of relief and laughed a bit nervously but ultimately ended up agreeing, “You got me! Figured me out!”

Joey just laughed and headed down the hall towards the recording room. “I’ll be in here when you need me!” He yelled and disappeared into the room but suddenly stuck his head back out of the doorway to ask, “Hey Mick, shouldn’t you be playing guitar or something right about now?”

Mick stood there, annoyed, and flipped Joey the bird. A snicker could be heard from the drummer and he actually disappeared this time, leaving Mick even more suspicious than ever. “I don’t know what’s going on with you two, but I’m onto you. The both of you.

Corey grabbed Jim’s hand ready to drag him in the direction of the bathroom. “Ehh, good luck, you won’t find anything suspicious.” He joked nonchalantly, dragging Jim through the open door to the bathroom. “Go play your guitar or something!” He shouted and shut the door, the lock clicking afterwards.

Mick just stood there; utter confusion filled his mind while he tried to rationalize it, eyes bouncing around the hallway. After several seconds he shrugged and walked away. He needed to go play his guitar anyway.
