Your nails scraped her scalp, she who was pretty much curled up on your lap, she who took up both your hands, she who was missing out on the sun.
"Are you're sure you're that tired?", you asked, looking up and having the sun shine rigth into your eyes from the gaps vreated by the willow. "The sun is out, it's a beautiful day, we have all this food left."
She chuckled, the sound traveled through your body against your will, she came close, close, closer, untill your faces were inches from eachother. "I got all the Sunshine I need rigth here.", she kissed the tip of your nose. You blushed.
"If you say so.", you sigh and in ultimate defeat, lean back. Warmth spread across your face, the sun dipping its rays into the folds of it, into the cracks of your lips, the roots of your hair, it chased its way down your spinal cord and spread into your ribs, your lungs and atlast, your heart. You hadn't noticed how much time had paced untill Argus put a…cherry? Grape? Against your lips, you opened them and it crunched between your teeth like a grape. You opened your eyes, looking at her.
"Wakey, wakey~", she said, gently slapping your cheek.
"I'm awake, I'm awake.", you sat up, the bark of the tree pressing against your back, your hands tried to shove it away somehow, as if that would work. "Just dozed off for a little while.", you assured, looking up, through the willows leaves. The sun had moved, not to much, but you migth've slept for an hour or something. Your eyes went towards the food, already noticing that Argus has had her share of it. You yawned, taking a small sandwich, as she sat up, across from you, though your knees were still touching.
"Ya wanna go home soon? I want my desert…", she asked, licking her fingers, probably left overs.
You grin, but swallow before you talk. "I've a better idea~"
She crocked a brow.
"You'll like this.", you stand up, straightening the folds on you dress, removing any crumbs. "I hide, you look for me."
Argus nodded, there was this thing in her eyes, this knowledge. "Hide n' seek" she looked up "what do I get when I win?"
You shrug. "I suppose that's up for you to decide~", you boop her nose.
You were able to hear your heartbeat in your ears as you listened to her counting down.
"Five."
"Four.."
"Three…"
"Twi…."
"One, here I come, ready or not!", she called out and you heard her moving through the long grass. You had found refuge in the hole of a nearby weeping willow, a good hiding place no doubt, but it migth not measure up to someone with Argus skills, in any case, you were still able to crawl down and hide somewhere close to the river, worst case scenario. And knowing both of your competitive nature's, this very well migth happen.
"I think I left the stove on…", she baited you, you pressed your teeth together, you had made sure it wasn't on before leaving, three times!!!
You imagined her scratching the back of her head, thinking of other ways to make you come out from your hiding place, you wouldn't budge, no, instead, you pulled your knees closer and turned more inward, into the tree.
"I just really hope no ants will get to the food, be such a shame to throw it all away…think I saw some just now."
That evil woman, that devil. How dare she use that against you, how dare she!
"While we're at it" was her voice coming closer? ", we migth need to re-polish our wedding rings, ya know, for good measure."
You stretched your head into the ligth, catching a glimpse of the shining gold, no, it seemed just "Eep!", you were brutally tugged out of your secret hiding place, being faced with your jackass of a rage baiting wife.
"Gotcha~"
You pulled her cowboy hat down into her face and started running while laughing, evading her by running around bushes, making random stops around a tree stump.
"Now I thought we we're playin' Hide the wife, not Catch the Wife!"
You leaned forward. "Changed the rules."
"I'll give you 'Changed the rules'.", before being able to blink, you were on the ground, one hand secured at the back of your head, the other wrapped around your waist. She lifted her head, blocking the sun from view. "Can I get my reward now?", she lifted your thigh a little, leaving the motion up for interpretation.
"Argus!", you say, scandalized. "Anyone could come by."
She chuckled, changing her arms position to hold her head up on her hand. "I thougth about some makin' out, but what exactly was on your mind?"
You blushed, snickered, looked away. "I know exactly what you were thinking about."
"And what's that, you mind reader?"
You looked away, rubbing your hand on your chin as if in thougth while humming, before averting your eyes straigth towards hers. "Getting your well earned desert?"
She pulled her eyebrows up "Well, if your offering~"
"Argus~!" your sqeel was covered by her kiss, her evading your mouth and her wandering hand, lifting your leg up and- "Argus!", you laughed again. She kissed the top of your nose, the motion had a sun-like warmth spread through your whole body. You looked up at her, leaning against your leg, with those big puppy eyes. A humm left your lips and you pit your hand against her cheek. You couldn't image to wake up next to any other face for the rest of your life.
