Chapter Text
Just a week after the news of tony and pepper’s engagement went public.
It was just a week after Mr. Stark had afford he’d join the avengers.
He said no.
They’re were little moments that he regretted it but mostly he thought it was a good choice. Somebody’s gotta look out for the little guy. And he is that person.
Mr. Stark had given him his personal phone number and Peter was very proud about that. He’d not send him any messages yet other then a congratulation for the engagement.
Peter did not expect Mr. Stark to just call him.
In the middle of school! Of all the moments Mr. Stark could have called him, he called during school. His phone was meant to be in his locker!
“Mister Parker, would you care to give us an explanation on why you’re phone is ringing in you backpack?” His History teacher said.
“I.. uh, forgot?” Peter parker said with a questionable voice.
“Uhuh, Well because I am in such a good mode today. I am willing to led you of with a warning. But I do expect you to put you’re phone in locker.”
“Oh.. Yeah”
“Now..!”
Peter walked out of the classroom with his phone in hand. The phone had stopped ringing.
When Peter finally looked at his phone he saw that it was Tony Stark who had called.
Omg Mr. Stark called me! Peter thought excitedly.
Omg Mr. Stark called me?! Peter thought now with more of a question.
Peter hurriedly called back a bit afraid something bad had happened. The call was almost immediately connected.
‘Hey kid!’ Tony said after answering the call with a bit of excitement in his voice.
“Mr. Stark, is something wrong? Why did you call me?”
‘Why does something need to be wrong to call you?’
“Well I thought because you called during school hours y’know.”
‘Oh yeah. So stupid of me I forgot you were at school. I’m sorry kid. Did I get you in trouble?’
“Not really. My history teacher is in a good mood so I didn’t get written up.”
‘Great! The reason I called you was because I was thinking you could maybe come to the lab in the tower? Or do you got homework? Again..’
“No. I haven’t gotten homework. And what do you mean with ‘again’?”
‘You’re excuse to not going to Germany was ‘I got homework’. I mean it’s hard forget.’
“And what do you mean with lab in the tower? I thought you sold the tower.”
‘Right I hadn’t caught you up in that. So I was thinking about how we couldn’t have villains just knocking on our front door in the middle of New York. So I moved all the avengers related things to the compound.’
“But you kept the tower.”
‘Of course I kept the tower. I love my tower. It is still owned by ‘Stark Industries’. But no longer in the avengers business.’
“Oh yeah that makes sense.”
‘Uhuh. So what do you say kid? Come by the tower for a sec after school?’
“I guess I could drop by..”
‘Great, see you then’ The call was cut off before Peter could say anything.
While Peter was putting his phone back he suddenly thought.
Shit, putting a phone back in you’re locker isn’t supposed to take this long. Ugh, my teacher is gonna kill me for sure.
While walking back to class Peter tried to think of a good excuse. He could say that it was the Tony Stark that called him. But he didn’t think the teacher would belief him even if he had shown her the call history. Guess its back to the oldy but a goody.
“So mister parker. What took you so long?”
“I needed to go to the toilet.” Peter answered with a shrug.
He had done this a million times and he was for sure the master of excuses. But sometimes you had to go back to the basics.
“You know you need to ask to go to the toilet, right?”
“I know, I’m sorry”
“Okay, get back to you’re seat”
Peter went back to his seat. He has had this conversation often enough to know that when you’re lying you should really not get into details. He had learned that the hard way.
5 minutes before the last hour of school ended, Peter was basically bouncing in his seat. And when the bell rang Peter jumped out of his seat ready to go as fast as he could to the tower.
Michelle asked in the way she always does: “Where are you of to?”
“I’m going to my internship.” Peter responded before he could rethink his answer.
“I thought you said that the internship had ended?” Michelle returned with a frown on her face.
“I never said it ended.”
“Yes you did.”
“No I said it was put on pause.”
“No.. I can remember you saying that the internship had ended.”
“Okay. Whatever you say, but I’m gonna go now. Bye.” And just like that Peter was gone. Running out of school like a maniac. Not even saying goodbye to his best friend.
Peter could feel a ping in his from his phone in his pocket. He opened his phone and saw a message from ‘Ned AKA the most best friend EVER’.
Ned AKA the most best friend EVER
Dude why you running out school so fast? I had dropped the Lego dead star remember? And not even saying anything to me! Not cool dude<
Peter stopped running. Giving him room to reply.
Ned AKA the most best friend EVER
Sorry man>
Mr. Stark has invited me to the lab!! I’m so sorry I forgot to say anything>
Peter saw the three little dots move up and down while Ned was typing something.
Ned AKA the most best friend EVER
<Its alright when do it tomorrow maybe? If you’re not busy
Peter was releasing a breath he did not know he was holding. He was very lucky with a friend like Ned.
Ned AKA the most best friend ever
Thanks dude. I was thinking maybe the day after tomorrow or something like that y’know
Peter closed his phone. He could look at Ned’s response later. Now he just had to figure out how he would go to the tower.
I can use the bus. Tho that could take long. Or I could just go swinging.
Without much of a second thought Peter chanced into his spider-suit ready to swing to the tower.
