Work Text:

It was finally winter break, and Louis was able to sleep in for once on a weekday. Instead of having to rush out the door to make it to school before all of the students arrived. He rolled over under the thick quilted blankets to wrap his arm around Harry, but he felt nothing but the depression that his body had left behind. Opening his eyes, he looked around, but his boyfriend was nowhere to be seen. Groaning, he lay back onto his back to get the last bit of warmth before tearing off the covers and letting the frigid air hit his skin.

The bitter cold from the hardwood floor shoots up from the souls of his feet and jolts his whole body awake. He grabbed his robe and put on his slippers to warm himself up. The bedroom door creaked open as he made his way out. It opened into the one hallway of the small cottage that ran through the center of the house. With the kitchen being directly opposite. Pancakes and maple syrup wafted through the air, and Louis let his nose lead the way. Inside, the radio played on top of the refrigerator; the static muffled the voice of the station’s host. While the crackling bacon covered up the rest.

Harry was hunched over the stove, stirring the pan, trying his best not to get hit by the grease. His head perked up when he noticed Louis enter the room. Greeting him with a big smile, “ Sleeping beauty is finally awake,” Harry joked as he moved in to give Louis a kiss on the cheek. “ Go get yourself something to drink. I’m almost finished.” He added before getting back to the meal. There was a light tinge of pink to Louis’s cheeks, but Harry couldn’t tell if it was from the cold or a genuine blush.

While getting himself a cup of orange juice, he also asked Harry what he would like to drink as well and he simply replied  “Water”. He seemed to have been drinking almost only water recently, because of a health kick he had been on. No matter how much Harry tried to rope Louis into it, he had too much fondness for junk food to ever be convinced. By the time Louis finished setting up the table, breakfast was ready to be served. As steam emanated from the pancakes, the wind whistled outside and banged against the thin windows.

“It hasn’t stopped since last night,” Harry told him before taking a bite of his food. With the cooking finally over, Louis could finally hear the host on the radio. “ Folks, it’s already eight inches and counting, so only go out if necessary and make sure to bundle up.” Louis looked over to Harry with concern. Mrs. Barbra, the owner of the bakery Harry managed, was a hard working woman. He only replied with a shrug. “I’ve heard nothing yet”. Louis just rolled his eyes when the landline started to ring.

“Speak of the devil,” Louis joked after wiping his face with a napkin before getting up to answer. The phone was mounted on the wall and had a curly cord that was tangled up from decades of use. It had been there when the pair had moved in, and given the horrible reception in the mountains, they decided to keep it. “ This is Louis,” He spoke into the phone. “Oh, hello dear, it’s Barbra, can you please tell Harry that I’m keeping the shop closed today?” She told him softly. “Of course, thank you for calling,” Louis replied, hanging up the phone.

“No work?” Harry asked as he chewed on a piece of bacon. Louis nodded his head yes as he sat back down and started to eat as well. The radio, still on in the background, had moved onto playing Christmas jingles. Making Louis slump back in his seat. Harry grinned, “ Oh, where's your holiday spirit?” He asked mischievously. “ I love Christmas with you and the family, darling. I just can’t stand all the presents and decorations and mandatory cheer.” Louis replied. Harry leaned closer to him on his elbows with a smirk on his face. “Well, my presents always seem to make you cheerful.” He said.

Louis took his right hand and cupped Harry’s chin with it. “ It most definitely does,” He told him, then leaning in to give Harry a kiss on the lips. He kissed him back with even more passion. The wooden chairs beneath them began to creak as they moved closer to each other. Harry grabbed hold of him, and now both of their chests were touching one another. The delicious meal that he had prepared for them, now forgotten. Louis pulled away, trying to catch his breath. “ I know a way we can warm up.”

Harry’s eyes lit up with another kind of hunger, and he nodded his head yes. Louis grabbed a hold of Harry this time, and he stood up. Even though he was shorter than the younger man, that didn’t stop him from pushing up against the old, floral wallpapered wall and starting to suck on his neck. Harry’s head leaned away to give him more room while his back slightly arched closer to Louis, Harry’s groan rubbing up against him. “ Louis,” he whimpered, making him only start to suck on his neck harder. Feeling Harry’s chub, he took his thigh and rubbed it up against it, synchronizing the two actions.
