Buck was lounging on one of the couches in the loft of the station in the middle of a particularly difficult shift. Well the calls themselves weren’t that bad, but Eddie wasn’t there so it qualified as a difficult shift. Buck hates whenever he and Eddie aren’t scheduled for the same shifts, especially since they got together. It’s been less than 24 hours and Buck is already miserable without his girlfriend. So he sat on the couch looking at photos of Eddie, taking in her beauty. She really is the prettiest girl in the world.
Buck is so proud of Eddie and the woman she’s become. It hasn’t been an easy year or so for her; Christopher moving away, having to move to Texas herself, almost losing Bobby. Luckily, things are even better than they were before. She’s back with the 118 and her and Christopher’s relationship is better than ever. All because Eddie’s finally started choosing joy, and it’s allowed her to flourish. It’s been a year since she came out to Buck, telling him that she’s actually a woman, and shortly after that they got together. Their anniversary is next week but Buck has something planned for today, to celebrate a year of Eddie living happily as the woman she is.
Buck checked Eddie’s location, as planned she was spending the day with Abuela and Pepa, and now was on her way home. Buck then pulled up his contacts so he could call Eddie wanting to hear her reaction to his surprise. He tapped on the one labeled “My Princess 💞” and hit call. As his phone rang he stared at Eddie’s contact picture, one he took of her on one of their recent dates at the beach. Her bangs were adorably falling in her face and she was wearing a gorgeous pink dress (her favorite color) as she smiled at the camera. Buck snapped out of his thoughts as Eddie answered the phone.
“Hey babe!”
“Hi princess! How was your day?”
“It was good, had fun catching up with Abuela and Pepa, I saved you some tamales for tomorrow. I missed you though.”
“I missed you too baby, can’t wait to see you and enjoy some of those tamales. Are you home yet?” Buck asked, knowing she wasn’t as he watched her get closer and closer to their house.
“Not yet. I’m only a few blocks away.”
Buck smirked; he couldn't wait to hear her reaction when she turned onto their street.
“Um Buck?”
“Yes sweetheart?” Buck said he was sure Eddie could hear the grin on his face through the phone.
“When did our street name change?” Eddie said in confusion as Buck watched her turn onto their street.
“Has it changed? To what?” Buck said feigning innocence.
“This has to be some weird joke. It says ‘Pretty Girl Avenue’, did you have something to do with this?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about…”
“Buck…”
“Okay so I might have gotten the city to change our street name.” Buck said coyly.
“You what?! For real?”
“Yup, it's official. Goodbye ‘South Benford’ and hello ‘Pretty Girl Avenue’.”
“How the hell did you do this?!”
Buck smirked, they may not be FaceTiming but he knows Eddie’s face is blushing furiously right now.
“It was no big deal.” Buck said nonchalantly.
It was in fact very much a big deal. He spent months sending very passionate letters to the city council, attending meetings and collecting signatures from their neighbors, but it was all worth it. Anything was worth it for his pretty girl.
“I can’t believe this.”
“Believe it sweetheart, it’s only fitting for the prettiest girl in the world to live on ‘Pretty Girl Avenue’.”
“You’re insane Buck.”
“I know, but you love me.” Buck said, smirking.
“Yeah I really do.” Eddie said softly.
