Don’t Leave Me

Summary:

Basically the same as the ending of Ejen Ali: The Movie 2 but with one eensy, weensy, tiny detail that I changed.

Instead of Alicia forgetting everyone and losing all her memories, she remembers everyone.

Except Ali…

*cries as I write this*

Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Chapter Text

how to make EAM2 ending even more heartbreaking? Alicia remembers everyone EXCEPT for Ali.

Enjoy :)

General Rama and the Mamak Maju gang ran through the hallways upon receiving Ali’s call. They saw the young tekno agent waving at them outside one of the ward’s doors.

“General! Over here!” Ali yelled out as the gang rushed towards him.

The general burst inside the infirmary ward, his eyes falling upon the girl who sat on one of the beds, dressed in a hospital gown.

“Icha!” General Rama rushed to his foster daughter, enveloping her in a tight embrace.

“Papa!”

The Mamak Maju gang, Ejen Geetha, Ali and Ejen Bakar surrounded the bed that Alicia sat on.

“You gave us quite a scare now Icha.” Rajesh admonished gently as the other uncles shed tears of joy.

“Sorry…” Alicia murmured softly.

Alicia smiled wanly as she looked at the group. A flash of surprise flickered across her eyes when she glanced at Ali but Ali brushed it aside as her just being disoriented.

It all seemed that everything would go back to normal. Alicia had finally woken up from her coma and would return to being one of the top agents that M.A.T.A. had.

Ali heaved a sigh of relief as he thrust his fist to her, initiating their signature handshake. He grinned.

“Glad you’re okay!”

But his fist was left hanging, meeting only empty air. Confused, Ali let his hand drop as he stared at Alicia.

“A…li…cia…?”

Alicia had recoiled back as she stared warily at the young agent. Her eyes showed no signs of recognition. Ali’s chest constricted as he shook away dark thoughts.

He chuckled nervously. “Alicia? It’s me, Ali! You…surely you didn’t forget me?”

Alicia merely stared at him suspiciously. Her next words shattered his heart.

“Who are you?”

Alicia turned to General Rama with a confused look on her face.

“Papa…since when did we admit civilians into M.A.T.A. facilities?”

The whole world seemed to freeze and crumble around Ali. Time came to a standstill for Ali as he replayed those devastating words in his head. A loud ringing filled his ears as General Rama gently interrogated Alicia.

But it was all muffled, blurred and distant to Ali. His eyes went unfocused as his hands fell loosely at his sides. Ali’s whole world fell apart as he could only helplessly stare at his friend. His rival. His classmate.

His partner.

“Who are you?”

Ex-partner.

“Who are you?”

She didn’t know who he was. She forgot him. She…forgot him.

“Who are you?”

Ali felt like he saw his life flash before his eyes. He saw all his memories he made with Alicia, the time they spent together on missions, in school. One image burned itself in his brain. The time she came over to his and Victor’s study group, she looked like a girl of her age for the first time. Relaxed and happy.

It had made Ali’s heart skip a beat at that time. But now, it was locked away. Everything, all of the moments they shared. The memories of them together. Gone.

Dully, Ali could only vaguely hear himself mutter some words before excusing himself. Agent Bakar looked back at him worriedly as the boy walked out of the infirmary ward. When Ali thought he lost Alicia, the combat agent felt that he lost both of them that day. But now, even with Alicia back, it felt like Ali was still gone.

The last time he had seen Ali this devastated was right after his mother sacrificed herself. Everyone thought she was gone, but she was actually still alive, her data stored safely within I.R.I.S. When Aliya sacrificed herself to save Ali, in the weeks that followed Ali was in a state of mourning and depression. But he was able to get through it with the help of those around him, especially Alicia.

But now…Bakar didn’t know how Ali would get through this. He remembered the day when Alicia sacrificed herself to save Ali. How Ali shook and wept on her unconscious body.

That day, M.A.T.A. didn’t just lose the General’s daughter.

The ringing in Ali’s ears clouded his hearing as he walked mindlessly, instinctively towards his room. He walked down the hallways with a blank, dull look plastered on his face. He ignored the questions from his friends as he passed by them. None of them mattered. Nothing mattered anymore.

Each footstep felt too heavy. Every breath came too hard. Ali finally reached his room. He slid upon the door as he stepped in. As the door closed behind him, he leaned back, slumping against it. He slid down, leaning back against the cool metal.

His heart hammered loudly beneath his chest as his breathing came uneven. The ringing had finally subsided, leaving him instead with a dull headache.

His lips parted as a dry, croaking, laugh escaped his lips.

“She forgot me…”

Comot walked up to him and meowed sadly, brushing her head against the side of his leg in an attempt to console the grieving boy.

“She forgot me…”

Ali lifted a hand to cover his face as his body shook, vibrating silently.

“She…forgot…me…”

Ali let out another choking laugh. He couldn’t believe it. No. He chose not to believe it. It couldn’t be true. He refused to believe it was true. It all seemed so surreal, so ridiculous. How could Alicia just forget about him? And only him.

Ali clenched his fists as he fought against the tide of his emotions that slow built up within him. He squeezed his eyes shut.

“Alicia…why did you leave me?” He whispered softly.

Ali finally let his tears fall as he cried. The tears, streaming down his cheeks as his heart burned within me, constricting inside as the guilt, the pain, the grief, it all threatened to consume him whole. He let his emotions pour out, flowing as he wept.

He cried. Cried for his best friend, his partner. His…everything.

At last, the young tekno agent came to terms with the feelings he harbored for Alicia. But now it was too late. She had forgotten him now. Too late…
