    Beneath the red smeared across his skin and his soiled suit, Ciel’s skin is flushed a vivid pink, full of life. His eyes, blue and purple and hazy, are half-lidded. There's a speckle of blood beneath his nose and sprayed across his cheek. 

    Bent over him, Sebastian finds himself on his knees as if in devout prayer, his chest nearly pressed to the blood-stained floor. His uniform shirt is soaked; he’s only grateful his tailcoat is elsewhere, escaping the bloodbath. It only makes sense, seeing as the boy is as close to a god as the demon will ever have. A soul worth worshipping-- it’s not something he’d seen for himself, but there’s nothing even a demon can do to deny fate.
