"Welcome ba—"

Draken didn't even have time to finish his sentence, when Mitsuya stumbled straight towards his arms. His reflex overrode the surprise, that soon turned into worry.

"Takashi—"

Again, he didn't get to finish his sentence, because Mitsuya pulled himself up, before he grabbed Draken by his shoulders.

"Ken, it's happening."

Draken could only blink, but he didn't let go of Mitsuya. He was about to ask what the hell is going on, when Luna strutted inside, with Mana tailing behind.

"Stop being overdramatic, Nii-san," she scoffed before she threw her bag on the table and took a seat.

The words set Mitsuya into motion. He pushed Draken aside.

"How could I not know you're having a boyfriend?!"

Draken almost couldn't hide his amused smile, when he exited the bathroom to the sight of Mitsuya already settled himself on the bed.

Usually, it would be a hassle for him to get him to bed, not without literally pulling him away from his desk. Draken was way more familiar with dragging his husband to get the proper rest he definitely needs and deserves.

Now, the said man had been waiting for him involuntarily.

And Draken could tell, Mitsuya was impatient that it took him too long to get on the bed with him.

He was sitting under the comforter, a book opened on his lap, but from the corner of his eye, it seemed like Mitsuya wasn't focused on reading any of the pages.

Draken could feel Mitsuya's eyes on him, as he took his sweet time of getting ready for the bed.

When he finally settled next to him, Mitsuya was quick to close his book and scooched closer to him.

"I can't believe this," Mitsuya started. Didn't need a seer to guess that there would be a long, long rant to come. "How come I didn't know Luna had been dating someone?"

The previous scene was replayed before Draken's eyes.

He and Mitsuya had invited Luna and Mana to stay over. It had been a while, since they came visiting, and with their mother having another business trip, Mitsuya thought, it'd be best if they could come to his place.

Draken and Mitsuya were excited. The girls loved to visit, but they had never stayed since New Year. Luna was busy with college, starting the second year with more courses and classes. While Mana was busy with school, aiming to be the head of the theater club she joined. Mitsuya might be able to rope them to visit him and Draken, but he always failed to make them stay.

Now that they finally agreed, they both couldn't be more happier. For once, he told Draken to stay at home while he fetched his sisters from the train station. Mitsuya had the best preparation to welcome his sisters.

For once, it was all he could think and talk about.

He was excited to clean up the spare room, for them to sleep. He bought new pajamas too, he might have splurged more money, if Draken didn't supervise his purchases.

Mitsuya was also determined to cook their favorite meals. The trip to the grocery stores filled with Mitsuya's meal plan for them.

When the day came, Draken did the last preparation, which was cleaning the house. Mitsuya had cooked the dinner, and he said he would pick up his sisters as soon as he could, but the food had to get ready once they were here.

Draken didn't expect Mitsuya to go out with such spirit, only to come back with it crushed into dust.

"You know, what Luna said, when I told her, she should have introduced his potential boyfriend to me?" Mitsuya huffed. "'What is this, Nii-san? A shogun era? You have to know who I'm betrothed to?' It's not funny."

His Luna's impression was so bad and probably so wrong, that Draken couldn't help himself from snickering.

"And, I told her, but you should have told me! I'm your brother, I should be able to decide whether he's good for you or not." Mitsuya groaned in frustration. "And she straight up told me, I should stop interfering? Like, what, did I have a lengthy interview with her and that boy? Did I threaten him? I barely did the interference!"

Draken patted his hand sympathetically. "The most important thing is that she did tell you at the end, isn't it?"

"Yeah, but they had been dating for like a year now."

"Aren't you glad that they've been together for so long? You know, Luna said her boyfriend is also his childhood friend, so the friendship had come first before eventually their relationship shifted and evolved."

"I couldn't even recall his name." Mitsuya dropped his head on Draken's shoulder. "What if she lied to me? So that I didn't get mad at her?"

Draken raised his eyebrow. "I didn't know you're that controlling of your sister's relationship."

"I'm not controlling, I'm just worrying." Mitsuya deflected. He had to feel the weight of Draken's gaze, he ended up sighing in defeat. "I just can't help myself from being protective of her."

Draken entwined their hands, comforting him.

"I understand. Even if she's two years in college, she's always gonna be your little sister, isn't she?"

Mitsuya nodded.

"But you know, you can't always tell her what to do, Taka. It's her life and she gets to decide what she wants to do, whom she wants to date."

"I know, Ken," Mitsuya cut him off. "It's just that—I can't judge who's the best for her if she doesn't even tell me. How am I supposed to know if she's dating the right person?"

Draken rubbed his thumb over Mitsuya's knuckle.

"Luna will be hella mad if you don't think she can handle her dating life by herself. She's mature enough to decide that. And she did tell you, Taka, even if it's after a while. Still, it means that she trusts you." He squeezed their joined hands. "Shouldn't it be your turn to trust her too?"

Mitsuya lifted his head off Draken's shoulder only to stare at him.

"What if I don't like him?"

Draken didn't mean to, but the whole combination of the straightforward dislikes, the childish pout, and petulant tone, were enough triggers for him to bursting into laughter.

"It's not funny," Mitsuya hit his arm. "This is a serious matter."

It took Draken for a while to regain his composure. "Don't you remember how your mother used to hate me?"

Mitsuya looked taken aback by the question.

"If you abide by her words, I wouldn't wear this," Draken lifted his hand, in which a ring identical to Mitsuya adorned the finger. "If you abide by her dislikes towards me, maybe we were just gonna break up, go on our separate ways, you'll eventually move on, and I definitely won't be here, having this conversation with you."

Mitsuya flushed red, before he mumbled, "That's different."

Draken grinned. "How so? Wasn't it you, who proved to her that I'm the best for you? Wasn't it you, who defended me with your life too? Wasn't it you who relentlessly convinced her to accept me because you love me and somehow I make you happy and that's what really matters?" He tapped his chin thoughtfully. "Should I call Mom so she could confirm all of these?"

That earned a mean jab on his arm. "Ugh, I hate when you do that."

"Do what? Being right?"

Mitsuya merely leaned to him and pulled the blanket a bit higher, as if he wanted to hide himself so Draken couldn't expose him further in his embarrassment.

"The point is," Draken fixed the blanket. "the only way we know whether this man fits to be Luna's boyfriend, is to get to know him. And even if you still couldn't agree with them, Luna should be given a chance to prove it to you if he's the right man for her."

Draken could still remember those days.

How Mitsuya's mother was wary of his presence, worried so much that Draken would only bring bad influence on her son.

How Mitsuya's mother repeatedly showed her dislikes towards him.

That no matter what Draken did, it seemed that he hadn't done enough.

Draken was never tired of trying to win Mitsuya's mother's heart, though. He kept on trying and trying and trying.

Until one day, Mitsuya snapped and confronted his mother's behavior.

Defending Draken's honor, exactly like the rest of the story.

Mitsuya who adamantly loved Draken; despite his mother, despite everything.

Mitsuya who was not afraid of defending Draken and taking his side; despite his mother, despite everything.

His mother eventually melted at the growth of their relationship that she gave them her blessing.

As the time went by, Draken had grown even closer to Hiyoko Mitsuya, sometimes Draken even thought he was less strict when it came to her, unlike her son.

Maybe, it was hereditary in Mitsuya's family. How the right person you chose for yourself would always have the beef with his family member.

"You think, I'm being overdramatic?" Mitsuya's head popped up.

Draken smiled at him. "Well, you're just being delinquent who cares about your family, aren't you?"

The blush that appeared on his cheeks was so endearing, Draken couldn't help but pinch it playfully.

Years and years, and he was never getting tired of the sight; not ever, not even once.

"He's gonna have to pass one hell of an interrogation," Mitsuya muttered.

Draken could almost picture it.

Mitsuya in his mother's position, with Luna becoming the exact copy of her brother, contradicting him. Draken would be content in holding his husband back, while also serving the look of silent threat.

He was Luna's honorary brother after all.

Draken knew, he didn't have to interfere when Mitsuya was capable of potentially scaring off anyone who didn't deserve Luna. He knew, he didn't need a single word to show whoever the man Luna brought, about what he got himself into.

Draken kissed the top of Mitsuya's head, finding himself loving the image.

"He should never expect any less than that."

"Nii-san, don't make that face."

"What face?"

"Your delinquent face!"

"Oh, I didn't know I had that face. Ken, why didn't you tell me?"

"Draken-nii, please. Your husband is driving me crazy. Kento will arrive shortly, I don't want Nii-san to act like Kento is trying to kidnap me or something."

"It's your brother, Luna. I can't do anything about him brothering you, especially at this moment."

"Nii-san, promise me you'll behave."

"Can't promise anything."

"Draken-nii, please keep him on the leash."

"I'll try my best, but I can't promise you anything too, Luna."

"Ugh, maybe I shouldn't have done this. If this is how you react when I bring home my boyfriend in my twenties, imagine how worse you could be if you found out about my other exes—"

"YOUR WHAT?"

"And wait until Mana got herself a boyfriend too—"

"MANA WHAT!?"
