Nightmare (Dabi x reader)

Summary:

They call her Cheshire.

The League of Villains knows her as Shigaraki’s calm right hand. Precise, unshakable, and deadly. What they don’t know is where she came from. Once the hidden weapon of All for One, Cheshire was trained from childhood to kill without hesitation and disappear without a trace.

But ghosts have a way of clawing their way back into the light.

When a mission goes wrong and her past begins to surface, she finds herself caught between the life she was forced to live and the fragments of a person she might have been. And then there’s him, Dabi. Arrogant, reckless, infuriating Dabi, whose fire burns through every wall she’s built to keep herself safe.

What starts as mutual annoyance turns into a slow, consuming pull that neither of them can afford to name.

Loyalties blur. Masks crack. And as the heroes close in, Cheshire must decide whether she’s willing to burn her world down, or finally step out of the shadows she was born in.

Chapter Text

Hero Public Safety Commission

Case File 1773: The Cat

Alias: Cheshire

Affiliation: League of Villains

Quirk: Nightmare

Quirk Details: “Nightmare” occurs when Cheshire’s venom is put into the blood stream, either by teeth, iron cat-like nails or device. Cheshire can control dreams and appear/participate in them. It’s as if a play is happening right in front of the victim. When the quirk is in use, their eyes glow a deep purple, as well as the person they infect. Can create lasting effects on the human brain if concentrated venom is administered. A number of unidentified bodies have been speculated to be in direct correlation with subject Cheshire due to claw like markings near upper neck below right ear.

Other Notable Abilities: Was trained in physical combat from the age of 7. Able to use weaponry such as throwing knifes, staff and possible firearms. Has been speculated to have the ability to achieve deep fakes, as there is no facial identification at this time.

Was last seen wearing: Black fire-resistant “Tech-wear” suit equipped with weaponry. Voice changing cat mask. Hair put up in two very cat-like buns.

Human Characteristics: Unknown. Keeps low profile. Only seen alongside Tomura Shiggaraki with mask and costume on.

Introduction

=====================================================================================

I only have three memories from when I was a child.

When my younger brother hugged me good night for the last time.

The cold look of terror, frozen on my parents’ lifeless faces.

And third, when All for One came down from the sky and saved me. I was slowly slipping into nothingness.

I was only 6 years old.

My life as I knew it was taken from me.

In return, I was given the training necessary to fight at All for One’s side. It was a tight schedule, training left little time for rest or fun. But when I could, I’d sneak off to play with Tomura

We were raised together but he was always kept at just an arm’s reach. Not because of his devastating quirk, but because he was the promised prince of the underground.

Tomura was told he could have the world and I... was the loyal sword who would serve as the royal bodyguard. A small price to pay, as I had already chosen my life as an embodiment of All For One’s will.

Interrogation

=====================================================================================

“Please, make it stop”…..

A man pleated, in a voice so small, even if you might had been standing close, you scarcely would have comprehended.

The man was shackled to a rusted folding chair that groaned under his weight, every movement echoing off the empty concrete walls. In the middle of a dark abandoned warehouse, just outside of the city.

A mixture of blood, sweat and tears rolled down his face. Even with the cloth wrapped around his head, you could see the soft purple glow coming from behind.

“Why?...... You don’t like what you see?”

y/n’s cool voice questioned from the darkest corner of the warehouse. Their eyes matching the soft purple glow of the bound UA teacher’s. The rest of their face covered by a black and purple mask.

Every interrogation plays out the same,” y/n thought. Though lately, it had started to feel more like routine than purpose., “why are you doing this”, “make it stop”, “why me?’. It made the job easy, but where is the fun in that?

“Why is this happening to me, why me?!” the man screamed as his chair crumbled beneath him. His head hitting the ground rather hard. The room seemed to shake in response.

“So predictable” y/n sighed, walking over to the man and crouching down in a cat like manner. Ensuring he could hear “Trust me, I don’t want to be here either. So... make it easy, tell me what I want.”

“They’re just children, leave them alone!” the man protested.

y/n scoffed under their breath, “when has that ever made a difference. It didn’t for me. Death and pain come for all, and unfortunately for you and.... maybe a handful of those UA students…… it might come sooner than later.”

y/n eyes began to glow a deeper purple and the man began to scream  (as much as he could) in agony as the building began to shake. Then, silence.

“Damn, he passed out” Y/n thought “At least I was able to pick a few names out of his brain before he did.”

The man was left on the floor.

y/n walked outside into the rain and hopped onto the nearest fire escape, nimbly climbing up the building and pulling out their phone to send a quick text to Kurogiri.

Cheshire: I’m all done Kurogiri, please open the portal.

Kurogiri: Of course, Cheshire. Did you find what you were looking for?

Cheshire: Partially. I can tell you more in a minuet back at the bar.

A portal began to manifest, and Y/N walked through.

=====================================================================================

At the LOV Bar

=====================================================================================

Y/n walked out of the rain and right into a heated argument between Tomura and two people they had never seen before.

A girl in a blood-spotted school uniform, hair twisted into uneven buns, and beside her a man wrapped in fire-kissed scars. They both looked like they’d walked straight out of chaos.

For just a moment, unbeknownst to him, y/n made eye contact with his piercing blue eyes before greeting Tomura and Kurogiri by giving a two-finger wave.

“Just in time Cheshire” Shigaraki said, “these two are getting on my nerves, deal with them.”

“They seem fine enough. What’s the problem?” looking them over, lingering a bit too long on the one with the scars.

Giran, the man leaning up against the wall in a purple suit spoke up, “Their names are Toga and Dabi, they’re very skilled.”

Y/N tilted their head, studying the pair the way a cat studies prey. “Well, Toga and Dabi… why are you here?”

Toga started jumping up and down, “Mr. Hand guy, you worked with Mr. Stainy. Let me be a part of the League! Pleeeaaassseeee!.”

Y/N eyes widened. Out of all the things this kid could have said and after everything that happened with “Mr. Stainy”, Tomura was definitely going to explode.

“Stain, ha…..Jeez, everyone is so hung up with Stain. I don’t like it…..You’re all NO GOOD!” Shiggaraki lunged at Dabi and Toga who lunged in return.  Y/N lunged in front of Shiggaraki to shield him, throwing knives at the ready.

But just before anyone made contact, Kurogiri caught everyone’s arms and weapons in small portals going every which way, so no one would get hurt.

“Thank you, Kurogiri” said Y/N in a calm voice.

“Shut up” Shiggaraki hissed before he pushed through them and out the door.

“He’ll come around. ” Y/N shrugged trying to reassure Toga and Dabi “That’s just how he is.”

“I thought for sure he was gunna kill us” Toga giggled

“He makes me sick.” scoffed Dabi as he began to turn to leave.

“Wait, please don’t go. Admittedly we could really use the muscle if your still up for it. And we have some extra rooms and beds in back for you both to stay for the night or for as long as you’d like.”

Dabi turned and looked at Y/N over his shoulder. His eyes dark and cold as steel.

“And by the looks of it, you’ve both been out on the streets for a while, right? Kurogiri and I could go get you both anything you wanted tomorrow…. within reason, to make things comfortable for the time being.”

“And why should I trust someone like you… in a mask and voice changer?” Dabi Scoffed

“I want what’s best for the league and Master Shiggaraki. It seems that you both could be great assets to us. I would never harm either of you……unless I was provoked.” Y/N said now giving them both a cold look of warning.

Dabi was silent for a moment, the contemplation of his situation clear on his face.

“Fine. I’ll stay, for now. It’s not like I’ve got anywhere else to go… and at least this place has booze.” Dabi said walking over to the bar once again.

“Me too!!” said Toga “I know we’re all going to be best friends!” She hopped up and down clutching her knife and then paused and looked up at Dabi. “Hey now that we’re pals…Can I have some of your blood?!”

“What… in the actual hell. No, freak.” Said Dabi, “Give me a room furthest from her’s.”

“Of course” Y/N said “Kurogiri will show you to your rooms. In the meantime, if you don’t mind, I must deliver sensitive information to Master Shiggaraki. I’m sure I’ll be seeing you both very soon.” Y/N bowed to them with one arm behind their back, the other laid across their chest.

Toga waved and skipped childishly down the hall to Kurogiri while asking him what seemed to be 100 questions a second.

Dabi was not long behind them but when he turned back again to wave goodbye, y/n had already vanished.  Giran noticed Dabi’s surprised look and gave him a quick wink as he walked out the door.

“Damn, she’s quick.” Dabi whispered

Rooftop

=====================================================================================

“Well….that could have gone better.” Y/N said as they said down next to Shiggaraki letting their legs dangle just slightly off the edge on the roof.

Shiggaraki only let out a sharp breath in response, “How did you even find me up here?”

“You always come here when you’re angry. Same roof, same skyline, Tomura. Usually, I give you your space, but I have some urgent information I think you’ll want to hear.” Said Y/N

“Well, let’s hear it.” Said Shigaraki

“Class 1A, those are the students that have the quirks you’re looking for. I believe the same class you met in the campus raid before Snipe turned you into Swiss cheese.” Y/N said with a small smirk on their face. Lucky hidden by their mask.

Shigaraki took “father” off his face and reached for Y/N mask lifting it off their face, careful not to touch it with his pinky.

Y/N H/C hair wisped in the wind as they held eye contact with the blood red eyes staring back at them.

“Carful Chesh” said Shigaraki in a cold tone “I’m already pissed off. Remember your place.”

“Apologies Master Tomura” Y/N said as they put the mask back on their face and slouched into a cat-like crouching position. A little further away before continuing.

“I was also able to pick out three names out of the UA teacher's mind. Shoto Todoroki, Katski Bakugo and an Izuku Midora.”

Shigaraki shuttered at the name taking out a half-decayed polaroid from his jacket pocket.

“Did he look anything like this little brat here?” asked Shigaraki.

“Yes, he stays close by All Might, all though I’m not entirely sure what his quirk might be.”

“Lucky for us, we’ve got another lead. All for One sent instructions—for both of us.”

Shigaraki said as he handed Y/N a crumpled letter from the same pocket and then continued, “There was a sports festival recorded on this flash drive as well as a soon to be “get together” for all the major heroes. Some bull shit party for hero’s celebrating themselves. We should be able to collect more intel at that event. Amongst them will be a few more of UA’s teachers including both Eraser Head and All Might.”

Y/N looked up from the crumpled letter, “Eraser Head, cool.” Said Y/N “What’s he like?”

“Incredibly dialed in, especially if one of his students is involved. He was able to stop me, mid-dust.” Said Shigaraki “Keep that in mind when you’re there.”

“The Letter says I’m going as a reporter, that’s easy enough. What will you be doing in the meantime?” Y/N asked

“Working with Giran to get more recruits and the Doctor to work on more Nomu. He says he has something he wishes to show me. I think he’ll be interested in your newfound intel as well. Strong quirks make for strong Nomu.”

“I’ll let you pass on my regards, last time I did, the man gave me the creeps…which is hard to do to say the least…….” Y/N paused before continuing.

“Also, I thought you should know. The two that came with Giran, decided to stay. Dabi and Toga. They’ve already claimed their rooms. You might want to talk to them in the morning.” Said Y/N

“Tch, fine. I’ll think about it. Now….please… F/N, let me have some time to think.” Shigaraki scoffed

“Sure thing Boss. I’ll be in my room if you need anything.” Y/N said as they bowed to Shigaraki then quickly broke into a sprint flipping off the building landing perfectly on the building next to it. Scaling all the way down to the dimly lit street below.

“What a show-off,” Shigaraki muttered, a hint of a smile tugging under his hand as he turned his eyes to the stars.

=====================================================================================

Late Night Patrol

=====================================================================================

On the other side of the city, near an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of town. A very disheveled UA teacher was wandering the streets. Dozens passed him on the street, each one looking away the second their eyes met his.

The teacher walked as far as he could before collapsing on the sidewalk, almost landing on a woman who was just trying to get home from a long day at work. When she screamed, the hero flying overhead stopped in his tracks and flew at full speed towards the commotion.

In a flash of crimson feathers, Hawks was between the woman and the fallen teacher.

“Hey Buddy, don’t you know it’s not polite to be throwing yourself at nice young ladies like that.” Hawks said as two of his feathers pinned the teacher to the ground by the shirt, turning his head back to wink at the women.

“Please, help me…..I……” the teacher barley whispered before passing out.

“Hey! Are you okay?” Hawks now realizing the situation, took a closer look at the man on the ground.

The man had obviously been beaten up with in an inch of his life.

Hawks turned the man on his back so he wouldn’t suffocate himself while unconscious. In doing so he realized the man was wearing a UA teachers’ shirt but was too bruised and bloodied up to tell exactly who it was. He then immediately noticed the small claw like scratches all over body, with maybe 100 or so concentrated just on his throat. The cold night wind blew the teachers’ blood matted long blond hair back over his face, making his eye lids flutter.

“What the hell did this to you?” He whispered before looking up at the women. “I’m sorry Mam, I almost forgot to ask if you’re alright.”

She nodded slowly, looking like a deer in headlights.

“Will you be okay to get home by yourself or would you like me to escort you?” asked Hawks

“Oh me?  I’m fine! I wouldn’t want to cause you more trouble. I’m just a few blocks away anyways. I know you heroes are always so busy!” She reassured him, a small blush creeping across her face.

“Are ya sure? It would be no trouble at all.” Hawks said, flashing a smile.

“Oh no…..I…I’ll be okay. Really, I think he needs more help than I do.” To which the woman smiled waved and started walking away, completely smitten.

When Hawks turned back to grab the teacher, he was in the same position but his eyes where now wide open and he was shaking and muttering to himself.

“Please, don’t kill them again…” he began to cry in a scratchy voice “There all going to die! I can’t watch them all die again!” the teacher screamed.

“Who? Who’s going to die again.” Hawks asked

“My family……she made me kill my family…. over and over again. I had no control.”

“She? Who’s she?” Hawks asked

“The Cat……. her eyes…..they’re everywhere.” The man said as he finally made eye contact with Hawks. His breathing quickened as the last of the Y/N venom ran through his system, and the delusions began again.

Hawks felt a chill crawl up his neck. The Cat?

The man’s expression slowly turned into absolute terror as he began to hallucinate a decayed mask with glowing purple eyes in place of Hawks looking down at him. He jolted his fist towards Hawk’s face, but the attack was short lived. Hawks quickly dodged and knocked him out cold.

“Let’s get you to a hospital.” Hawks sighed as he picked up the teacher and flew off.

=====================================================================================

Finally, Home

=====================================================================================

Y/N opened the door to the dimly lit bar. It seemed, apart from Shiggaraki, everyone else had gone to bed for the night.

“It must be pretty late” Y/N thought “Just glad to be home.”

Y/N closed the door behind them and just as they were about to walk down the hall, they saw a small blue flame light a cigarette out of the corner of their eye.

They immediately fell into a fighting position, earning a low soft laugh from Dabi leaning up against the bar.

“Wow, so jumpy. And I thought we were friends.” Dabi said in a low gravely whisper leaning back against the bar.

“My apologies, I didn’t realize anyone was still up. Still getting used to having new faces around here.” Y/N said

“I’m not offended, I get it. People like us always have to look over their shoulder. It’s all reflex now.” Dabi said

“Yes…. Well, goodnight.” Y/N said as they began to walk down the hallway.

“Wait. I just have one question for you. You could say it’s been burning in the back of my mind.” Dabi said as he shifted his wait from one elbow to another and turning his head to the side. A small amount of hair partially covers his eyes.

“Of course.” Y/N turned reluctantly to face him

“So why you call Shigaraki ‘Master’? You two into some weird power-play thing, or what?” Dabi asked with his brow furrowed and a mischievous grin forming across his face.

“Huh? No. That’s just how we were brought up. Anything else?”

“Well, if you got the time. Sure.” He paused for a moment, “What does your face look like behind that mask?” Dabi asked

Y/N let out a sigh, “Right now, tired.”

Dabi pushed himself off the bar, put out his cigarette and started to walk towards Y/N. He put his hands in his pockets as he leaned in to take a closer look at the mask. “I bet you’ve got some gorgeous eyes.” He said

Y/N scoffed as a soft purple glow began manifesting “I should show you them some time, flame boy.”

“Now we have pet names for each other?! We’re moving pretty fast Doll.” Dabi said in a low humored tone.

“Why don’t you go check on Toga. I’m sure she would love the company.” Y/N said

“Nah, she’s not much for conversation.” Dabi shrugged

---- Togas POV ----

“Mr. Knife did you see that!” She gasped as she clutched onto her horror manga showing her knife the comic panel. “I bet she just wants him for his blood!......mmmm…… I hope she gets him.”

---- Y/N POV ----

“I’m sure she’s fine.” Y/N shrugged

Dabi gave a look before he continued. “I even tried talking to that foggy bar tender, but he’s a man of very, very, very few words.”

---- Kurogiri POV ----

Kurogiri sat on the side of his bed staring at the wall in silence.

“I……I wish I could sleep.” He thought

---- Y/N POV ----

“Wait…..no, that one is a little true.” said Y/N

“See? That just leaves you kitty-cat. What’s a guy supposed to do around here for fun?” asked Dobi

“I could give you something to do.” Said Y/N

“Oh, is that so…..what did you have in mind?” Dabi asked putting his arm up pinning Y/N between himself and the wall.

Y/N sighed, then flicked a knife at the lone bulb above them. It shattered with a soft pop, plunging the room into darkness.

Seconds later, a light across the bar flickered on, revealing Y/N perched at the far end, waving a flash drive. at Dabi.

“How did you……how did you even do that.” Dabi asked in amazement

“I’m quick on my feet.” Y/N replied “I have a job for you. See this flash drive? It has multiple recordings from the UA sports festival and a few files on the Class 1A UA students. I need you to take notes on every match, make sure to be very specific about their quirks, weaknesses and strengths.”

“Sounds easy enough.” Dabi said walking up and taking the flash drive in a painfully slow manner.

“Great. Now, if you excuse me, I’m going to bed.” Y/N said as they got up and began walking down the hallway.

Dabi was surprisingly quiet, no sly remark, no one off comment. It was almost concerning.....

Y/N looked back to see Dabi intently staring at their butt.

“Hey! Eye’s up here flame boy.” Y/N said raising their hand to their head.

Dabi slowly looked up to hold eye contact while bowing forward with one arm behind his back the other across his chest. “My apologies…. Master Cheshire.” He said with a smirk

Y/N smiled to themselves as they gave Dabi a two fingered wave, turned and walked down the hallway and into their room.

When the door closed and locked behind them, they took off their mask revealing a slight blush across their cheeks.

“That one’s going to be trouble…” Y/N thought as they changed into a large t-shirt and PJ shorts.

The nightly ritual began: lighting candles, cleaning gear, stretching on their silks suspended from the rafters. Rituals before bed kept the nightmares away.

Tonight, however, they didn’t.

=====================================================================================

 Hospital

=====================================================================================

= the next morning =

“How did this happen.” Aizawa asked All Might as he looked at an unconscious Present Mic laying down in the hospital bed “Look at how scratched up he is……how could we have let this happen.”

All Might put his hand on Aizawa’s shoulder, “We’ll get whoever did this. I promise. I won’t rest until we do.”

Aizawa took a long breath and rubbed his eyes, “We can’t let the media know what happened, the kids have already been through one near death experience this year. I can only imagine the kind of image the media will paint if they learn we can’t even protect one of our teachers.”

“I agree.” Said All Might “Have you talked to the principal anymore about that dorm idea?”

“No, not yet. He wasn’t too keen on it when I brought it up the first time. It legally puts the school in a tight spot. Not to mention, making sure it’s fine with all the parents. It’s all going to be one big headache.”

“True. I think it’s something worth fighting for. Strength in numbers and all that.” Said All Might

There was a heavy silence in the room for a moment as they both examined their fellow teacher and friend. Thinking about what they might have done differently, if only they could have been there to help.

“Heyoooooo, glad you two are already here.” Hawks said as he walked through the door holding a trey of coffees. “Has he said anything yet?”

“No not yet. He’ll come around though.” Aizawa said “Thank you for finding him. I’m not sure anyone would have if you weren’t in the right place at the right time.”

“I just got lucky,” Hawks shrugged, handing coffees to Aizawa and All Might. “He was in bad shape when I found him. I didn’t even recognize him at first… never seen him with his hair down like that.”

“Was there anything else you noticed that might help us figure out who did this?” asked All Might

“Not that I haven’t already told you or filled in the report. He kept talking about a cat, he was scratched to hell and back…and he looked at me like I was the one who was about to kill him. Unfortunately, not much information to go on, but I could go back to see if I might have missed anything.” Hawks said

“Sure. We’ll scrape for leads if we have to.” Aizawa said

“I’ll go check it out and text you if I find anything.” Hawks turned and was just about to leave when he remembered something, “You know what…I think there might have been something else.”

Aizawa and All Might both turned to look over their shoulder.

“I thought it might have just been my eyes playing tricks on me because of how dark it was at the time but…...I thought I saw his eyes glow purple. Just for a second, before he lunged at me. It could have been nothing... but at this point it might be something.” Hawks said

They all stood in silence once again, in deep contemplation.

* SMACK!!*

“What in the hell was that?!” Aziawa said glancing up to see a reporter with a hover quirk snapping pictures through the third-story window.

“Hey! No pictures please!” All Might said as he waved his hands around using his gigantic body to shield Present Mic in his bed.

The reporter put down his camera to try and take a closer look at who was in the bed but was greeted instead, with Aizawa’s bloodshot eyes and his hair standing straight up.

“Oh shi…….” The reporter’s quirk canceled out as he fell to the ground only to be caught in All Might’s arms.

“Wow you guys work as a great team!” Hawks said enthusiastically “How’d you know All Might was gunna catch him like that?”

“I didn’t.” Aizawa said as he closed the blinds. “So much for keeping this from the media.”

=====================================================================================

Back at the "LOV"

=====================================================================================

Y/N woke up and stared at the ceiling for a good 5 minutes.

“Another night with barely any sleep…maybe Tomura will be fine if I just stay in bed for another 30 minutes or so. I’m sure he’s sleeping in with how late he stayed out.” Y/N thought

They rolled over and fell back into a comforting sleep, dreaming of a house in the snowy mountains.

Though everything was coated in a dusting of powdery white snow, they felt a warmth radiating from inside their chest.

Y/N fallowed a familiar walkway that led to a small Japanese style bridge. As they peered into the rushing water down below, they realized they could make out a small reflection apart from their own standing at the other end of the bridge.

“Hi little brother.” Y/N said looking up with a warm smile.

“You’re home! We missed you!” A young boy said as he crashed into Y/N giving the tightest hug he could.

“I missed being here.” Y/N said as they rustled his dark black (almost purple) hair.

“Will you be staying this time?” the boy asked

“I think I’ll have to go soon. But…maybe one day we can finally be together. I’m sorry.” Y/N said now holding the boy’s face. “For now, tell me what you’ve been up to.”

“Okay! I’ve done a bunch of cool things! I’ve just started working with sensei and now I can kick high! And I’ve almost mastered my quirk!……I…….talk…and”

The boys voice started to trail off and become muffled as the dream lost its hold on Y/N.

Just like a candles flame that had slowly burnt out and faded into nothingness. The dream was gone.

Y/N woke up to a knock on the door.

“Who is it?” they asked in a sleepy voice

“It’s me Cheshire. Master Shigaraki has asked me to fetch you. He’s holding a meeting in the bar.” Said Kurogiri

“I’ll be there in 5 minuets.” Y/N said as they began to throw on clothes and put their hair up.

“I shall let Master Shigaraki know.” Kurogiri said as he headed back to the bar.

Y/N brushed their teeth and put on their mask before they closed the door behind them, walking towards the bar.

The T.V. was on a news broadcast as Y/N walked in.

“Have you seen this yet?” Shigaraki asked Y/N as they sat down on the bar stool next to him.

“No. Not yet just woke up.” Y/N said

“You’re not gunna like it.” Shigaraki said as Kurogiri poured him a glass and slid it towards him.

“A little early for that stuff don’t you think?” Y/N scoffed

“It’s not for me.” Shigaraki said as he passed the glass down to Y/N

“Breaking News! The teacher known as Present Mic has been found after four days of being missing and is now being pronounced stable. We go now to the reporter on the scene!”

“Oh fuuuuck.” Y/N said as they grabbed the glass moving their mask up to take a sip and then burry their face in their arms.

“Thanks Hellen! Just a few minutes ago, I was able to snap this picture confirming that it is, in fact, Present Mic who was the teacher that went missing from UA High.”

A chaotic picture popped up on the screen showing a sleeping Present Mic in bed with a blurry All Might flexing in front of him. A blurry Izawa lunged from his chair with laser red eyes as a calm and collected Hawks smiled and gave a peace sign at the camera in the back.

“And what a picture that is John! It’s made me realize; I have never seen a bad picture of our favorite winged hero, Hawks.”

“Now that you mention it Hellen, I have a surprise for you! I have Hawks with me right now. Is there any incite you might be able to give this city’s people to make them feel a little safer at night?” The reporter asked as the camera panned over to show Hawks smiling at the camera.

“Well, first off let me say that I’m happy to be here talking with you and Hellen.” Hawks says as he winks at the camera “However, there’s not too much information that I can share currently. Just that Present Mic has stabilized and he’s looking forward to getting back to work at UA . We have no possible suspects at this time, but rest assured the heroes of this city will keep fighting for everyone’s safety. Now if you don’t mind, I really should be getting back to work as well.”

“Of course, Hawks, go be a hero!” Hellen said as she waved him goodbye blushing at the camera.

“I really hate that guy…” Y/N said as Shigaraki nodded in agreement.

The news camera followed Hawks as he flew away but stopped at the third story hospital window and zoomed into Izawa’s face giving a very harsh glare.

“Well, um….uhhh,  back to you at the studio Hellen!....Let’s get out of here guys, that guy hates me.” The reporter said as Shigaraki put the volume on mute and looked over at Y/N.

“We’ve got to finish the job.” Said Shigaraki in a cold tone, “The fact that someone out there knows you exist is bad for the League.”

“I agree. I shouldn’t have let him go in the first place. I didn’t know that bird brain would find him.” Said Y/N

“It must be done covertly. I leave it to you. Your mess, your problem.” Shigaraki said

“I understand.” Y/N said in agreement

“Not that I have anyone to send with you. I’ll be training the new recruits for the next few days and catching them up to speed on everything.” Shigaraki said

“It’s fine either way. I don’t mind working alone. I can work faster that way.” Y/N said, “Have you talked to the new kids yet?”

“Not yet, I wanted to make sure you were here too, to diffuse the situation if need be.” Shigaraki admitted.

“Wow…look at that Boss. People can grow and change.” Y/N mocked moving slightly out of dusting range.

“Alright you little brat, you’re already on thin ice I…..” Shigaraki stopped mid-sentence.

“No, no, don’t stop on my account. Carry on…..Master… Shigaraki.” Dabi said in a deep sleepy voice as he plopped down on the bar stool next to Y/N.

“Good morning Dabi.” Kurogiri said “Can I get you anything?”

“I’ll take what she’s having.” Dabi said as he gestured towards Y/N drink

Kurogiri poured and slid Dabi his drink as a very sleepy Toga walked in and sat down at a table and chairs that were in front of the bar, yawned and waved at everyone with her head down on the table.

“Good morning, everyone.” Toga said in a muffled voice

“Good, now that everyone is here. Let’s get down to business.” Shigaraki said putting “father” on his face. “I would like to see what both your quirks can do, so you’ll be coming with me to train for the next few days.”

“But…what about her?” Toga asked looking up and pointing at Y/N

“Unfortunately, I won’t be able to go with you. I have some business I have to care of here first.” Said Y/N

“That’s a bummer, I was looking forward to some team bonding time.” Said Dabi as he took a long sip of his drink.

“I’m sure you were…” Y/N said under their breath so that only Dabi could hear, earning a small smirk from him as he kept his eyes down towards his glass.

“Cheshire will be training you when we get back. That will be a little more intensive than what I have planned though.” Said Shigaraki

“Now you have my attention.” Dabi said as he looked up at Y/N and smiled.

Y/N rolled their eyes and made eye contact with Shigaraki who in turn gave Dabi a death glare through the hand on his face.

“Yeah, I want to spend more time with Cheshire!” Toga said excitedly “I like your throwing knifes.”

Toga’s smile was almost infectious, “Thanks! I like your knifes too Toga.” Y/N said

Toga’s smile widened as she put her hands up to her face.

“Did either of you write out the lists of items you would like me to get today?” Y/N asked

“I did!” Toga said as she got up and handed a long list to Y/N. “I wasn’t allowed to have a lot of the things I like when I was living at home, but now that I’m on my own I can be myself.”

“Sure thing, I might not be able to get everything on the list, but I can get most for you.” Y/N said as Toga nodded excitedly.

“Here’s mine.” Dabi said as he handed over a list with five items on it.

“There’s nothing else you want? Just these items?” Y/N asked Dabi

“Yep, that’s it. If I want anything else, I can get it myself.” Dabi said

“Alright by me.” Shigaraki said with a shrug, “We will leave tomorrow morning to begin the training at a remote facility outside of the city.”

Shigaraki then turned to Y/N, “Be carful while we’re gone.”

Both Toga and Dabi were slightly taken back with the small and subtle glimpse of emotion that Shigaraki showed towards Y/N.

“Of course, Master Shigaraki.” Y/N said as they slightly bowed their head in his direction.

“The rest of the day is yours. I have a meeting with Giran today to go over more possible recruits.” Shigaraki got up to walk towards the door, then paused and looked back at Dabi, “Don’t do anything stupid while I’m gone.”

“Wouldn’t dream of it.” Dabi scoffed in response, “……..crusty.”

Shigaraki stopped right as he was about to reach the door. “What did you just call me…..”

“Oh, nothin.” Dabi laughed

“That’s what I thought, patchwork.” Shigaraki said now fully turned around looking at Dabi.

“It’s like you’re just begging to be reduced to ash.” Dabi said as he stood up

“Funny, I was just thinking the same thing about you.” Shigaraki said his red eyes widening

Dabi took one step towards Shigaraki as small blue flames started manifesting from his hands.

“Don’t take another step.” Y/N said in a cold tone

“Listen Doll, you stay out of this.” Dabi said

Y/N quickly stood up on the barstool taking the collapsible staff out of their pocket.

With a fluid motion they used the staff as a pole vault and flipped over Dabi’s head landing in front of Shigaraki in a crouching position. Y/N slowly stood up lifting the staff up with their right hand, pointing it at Dabi’s chest.

“I told you, don’t take another step.” Y/N said

Dabi and Y/N stared each other down as Shigaraki looked at the situation almost unbothered. He knew what Y/N was capable of, he was untouchable.

“Come on Dabi we just got here, and we’re going to get a bunch of nice things soon. Let’s cool down for a second.” Toga pleaded

The flames on Dabi’s hands began to die down as he took a step back to sit on the bar stool and grabbed his drink. Y/N slowly let their right hand fall as they shifted into a neutral stance and collapsed their staff.

“Let’s try not to kill each other. Huh?” Y/N said gesturing towards both Dabi and Shigaraki.

Neither of them said anything.

“Right!?” Y/N asked them both angerly.

Both quickly nodded in agreement.

“Great. Now, Master Shigaraki, don’t you have somewhere you need to be?” Y/N asked

“Yeah, I’m outta here. Try not to burn the place to the ground.” Shigaraki said shutting the door behind him.

Dabi leaned back in his chair and rolled his eyes. “I’m out of here too. I need some fresh air.”

“Would you like me to warp you somewhere Dabi?” Kurogiri asked

“Nah, I’m good thanks.” Dabi said as he got up.

As he passed Y/N he leaned into whisper, “You don’t always have to protect him like that.”

“I do.” Y/N whispered back looking down at the ground.

It was quiet for a moment after the door closed behind Dabi.

“Well, it looks like it’s just us girls then.” Y/N said looking at Toga giving her a little wave.

“Yay! Let’s go hangout in my room!” Toga said jumping up from her chair to run over and throw her arms around Y/N

“I was thinking, maybe we could go shopping and mark off some of those items on that long list of yours.” Y/N said trying not to fall back from the force of the hug.

Toga gasped, “Even better! I’ll go get changed!”

“Nothing too flashy! We still need lay low.” Y/N yelled after her.

Like a flash Toga ran down the hallway to her room.

“I better get ready too” Y/N thought as they began walking towards their room.

The Mall

=====================================================================================

“Alright, where to next?” Y/N asked Toga holding multiple shopping bags in her hands.

Both Y/N and Toga were dressed in civilian clothes, and although Y/N couldn’t wear their voice changer in public, they still had a face mask and sunglasses on to shield their appearance. Nothing too flashy but still cute and movable if any type of physical altercation should arise.

“Let’s go to this store!” Toga said pointing to a very expensive dress store.

“Alright, I do need an outfit for a function that I’ll be going to in the next few days.” Y/N said thinking about the Annual Hero’s Ball

“Here you try this one on! I don’t know what your face looks like……..but I think it’ll look gorgeous!” Toga said holding up a rather revealing satin black dress.

“Oh, you know, not really my thing…. but I bet you’d look great in it!” Y/N said trying to hand the dress back to Toga. In return, Toga gave Y/N a look like she was about to cry and just for a second Y/N saw how young Toga truly was.

“Wait, wait…. Maybe I will try it on. I’ll grab some other stuff too and meet you at the dressing rooms.” Y/N said

“Okay!” Toga said immediately snapping back to her smiley self and skipping to go look at more clothes.

Oh. She’s good.” Y/N though as they picked up a smart looking long sleaved white button up shirt and black pencil skirt. “This looks like something a reporter would wear.”

Y/N went to the dressing room where Toga had already gone through multiple dresses and began to take off their mask and glasses.

“Alright let’s get this over with.” Y/N whispered under their breath as they grabbed the black silk dress that Toga had picked out.

Y/N took their shirt off, revealing a small scar at the base of their neck and slipped the dress on.

Although it was nothing like they had ever worn before, the dress fit perfectly. It hugged and accentuated their every curve in just the right way.

“Damn, okay. Not bad at all. Toga might just be on to something.” Y/N said aloud observing themselves in the mirror.

“On to the next.” Y/N though as they grabbed the long sleave button up shirt and pencil skirt and took off the dress.

“Yep, this will do the trick.” Y/N thought to themselves before putting their own clothes back on.

Their phone began to ring as they left the dressing room. The caller ID didn’t recognize the number.

“It’s probably nothing but, just in case…I should get that.” Y/N thought for a second before being tackled once again by Toga.

“Did you like the dress? Did ya?!” Toga pleaded.

“I surprisingly really loved it! Thank you.” Y/N said in such a warming tone, Toga could feel the smile from underneath all the face coverings.

“Were you able to find anything that you like?” Y/N asked looking at Toga’s empty arms

“I did! They’re checking me out right now.” Toga replied, gesturing to three employees working through a large pile of clothing at the cash register.

Y/N began to laugh, feeling a stomach cramp begin to form.

“What is it? Did I do something wrong?! I can put it all back!” Toga started to walk toward the register.

“No! No need.” Y/N said in between laughs.

“Then…What’s so funny?!” Toga asked, now slightly annoyed

“I’m putting this all….I’m putting this all on Tomura’s credit card!” Y/N said, laughing almost to the point of tears.

Seen a Cat around here?

=====================================================================================

“Pick up the phone, damn it.” Dabi scoffed under his breath as he leaned into the telephone booth.

“I’m sorry, but the person you are trying to reach is……….” The voice was cut short as Dabi slammed the phone down.

“ Shit!”

He very slowly looked up from the pay phone to see Hawks greeting passers by as he walked down the street.

Only two streets over from the hideout.

Dabi moved from the phone booth and into a shadowed area of a nearby ally. Careful not to raise any suspicion.

“Hey there!”  Dabi heard Hawks say to a low-level thug walking by, “Good to see you again. You’re looking much better than when I last saw you buddy!”

The thug tried to turn and run but was pinned quickly up to a wall by Hawks.

“That’s because you beat me with in an inch of my life last time! Get away from me! I’ve kept clean!” The Thug pleaded.

“Listen man, I’m not here to be your parole officer. I just have a few questions. So maybe…you have a few answers for me?”

Hawk’s smile faded. All that remained was a cold stoic glare, almost villainous in the dimly lit streetlight.

“Sure! Sure. I…..I don’t know much but I’ll tell ya if you let me go.”

Hawks smiled wide, “You’ve got a deal. Now, tell me. Have you seen anything strange around here in the past few days?”

“Y…You have to be more specific. There’s a lot of strange on t..this side of town.”

“I’m looking for a cat.” Hawks  said

Dabi’s eyes widened as he moved a little closer to the conversation.

“Try a shelter! This was all about trying to find your lost pet?!” The Thug yelled

“Hah! No…..maybe someone with a cat-like quirk. Have you seen anyone matching that description?” Hawk’s asked

“No…no cat people here. I have seen a humanoid lizard man…but I don’t think that’s who you’re looking for.”

“Why do I think you’re playing dumb?” Hawks once again became more serious as he raised a feather next to the man’s cheek.

“I…..I’m not.” The man squeaked out.

Hawks then brought the feather down to the man’s throat.

“Okay….Okay! Like I said I don’t know much, it’s high above my pay grade…. but, sometimes you’ll feel like you’re being watched when you walk these streets at night. I’ve seen shadows running on roof tops …around corners and up walls. Some of the residence here have a name for it. They call it the cat. I don’t know who or what it is though, it could just be a superstition. A..and that’s all I know!”

Hawks let go and the man fell to the ground.

“Thank you for your cooperation.” Hawks said “For your trouble.”

Hawks palmed the man a piece of paper and tuned to fly away.

The man unfolded the crumpled paper. Revealing a $5.00’s off coupon for Chikin-n-Buckets.

“Are you kidding me! You bird brained cheap-skate!” The Thug raised his fist to the sky.

“You’re WELCOMEEEEEE!” Hawks joyfully yelled back before flying out of sight.

Dabi stepped out of the shadows and stared into the empty sky where Hawks had just been.

“That was too close for comfort.’

Dabi returned to the phone booth and dialed one last time.

The dial tone rang in his ear before they finally picked up……..“Hello?”

=====================================================================================

“Bingo”

=====================================================================================

Toga dropped her bags to the floor as she stepped through the Kurogir’s portal and back into the hideout.

“Thanks, Kirogiri!” Toga said, in a voice that could only be related to pure sunshine. “If you need me, I’m going to decorate my room! Come and see it later Kurogiri”

“You’re very welcome, Ms. Toga.”

Y/N was the next to step through. “What was with the sudden SOS Kurogiri Is everything okay?”

“Yes, however I did receive a call from Dabi. He said that he has some important very information for you.”

“That might explain my missed calls” Y/N thought, “Where is he now?”

“He hasn’t come back just yet. He said he needed to get something important before he came here.” Kurogiri said

“How very convenient. I’ll go look for him then. Please update Master Shigaraki on the resent happenings when you can.”

Y/N said as they walked down the hall. They suddenly stopped as the hair on the back of their neck felt as if it had been electrocuted.

“Kurogiri ….. I will be wearing my tracker tonight as I look for Dabi. Please send Master Shigaraki my location if I’m not back in an hour.”

“Of course. Shall I update the family head as well?” Kurogiri asked

“No.” Y/N snapped

The tension was sudden and almost unbearable.

“That won’t be necessary.” Y/N said in a softer tone, “Sorry.”

Kurogiri watched as they went down the hall and disappeared behind the door.

“It’s okay.” He said to himself as he picked up a glass from behind the bar and began cleaning it.

Later that evening…

“Tonight seam’s to be darker than usual.” Y/N thought as an uneasy feeling began bubbling up in their stomach. “Come on flame boy where are you?”

From the sidewalk below, passers-by could barely make out a shadow hopping from building to building.

A sudden boom caught Y/N attention as they landed on the next rooftop in their path. They looked in the direction of the noise and saw the bright white glow of blue flames painting the sky.

Without a second thought they began running as fast as they could.

There were two more gigantic explosions and then….nothing.

Y/n flipped from the roof of a building landing on the thin over-hang of a street light in the middle of the fresh destruction.

“Jesus. Look at this.” Y/N thought observing the decimated area. Windows had been blown in, fire everywhere and what appeared to be red shards piercing the ground. “So much for keeping a low profile.”

Movement caught Y/N eye as they quickly tuned their head to see a bloody Dabi rising up from building debris.

They leaped down off the light post and ran towards him. “Dabi! What the hell happened!?”

Dabi lunged, tackling Y/N down to the ground. He rolled both himself and Y/N out of the way and behind a wall. 4 large red feathers where now stuck in the ground where they had just been standing.

“That’s what happened Kitty Cat.” Dabi grunted from beneath Y/N

“Hey! I didn’t know you had a friend?!” Hawks yelled from on top of a nearby building.

“I really do hate that guy.” Y/N said as they looked down at Dabi, still laying on top of him from the tumble.

Dabi mustered a small smile and scoffed, “Yeah…….not that I’m complaining but…..could you get off of me. I think he broke my ribs.”

Y/N jumped up and took out their collapsible staff. “Alright then, you ready?”

Dabi got up and wiped off the dust from his jacket. Flames began running up his arms. He gave Y/N a nod as they both stepped out from behind the wall.

Two feathers flew towards them. Y/N jumped in front of Dabi knocking them out of the air with their staff and directing them towards the ground.

“We have to get close to him.” Y/N whispered, “Were no good from this distance.”

Three more feathers whipped towards them but were turned to ash with a wave of Dabi’s hand.

“He’s up there!” Dabi said gesturing up.

“Heyyyy you guys are pretty good!” Hawks yelled down. “You together or something?”

“I need a distraction.” Y/N whispered

“That, I can do.” Dabi said

Y/N broke into a sprint with Dabi quickly fallowing behind. When he was close enough, he unleased as much flame up into the air as he could muster. The whole area lit up like a flashbang.

Y/N sharply changed direction running up a nearby fire escape and pole vaulting towards Hawks aiming for the back of his head.

Hawks ducked just in time, rotating his body sweeping his out-stretched wing under Y/N feet.

Y/N backflipped using the pole as leverage. Their leg suddenly felt cold then a slight sting.

They looked down to see that Hawks had landed a quick slash on their leg.

Hawks slowly stood up analyzing Y/N from head to toe. “I don’t think I’ve seen you around.”

“I’ve seen you.” Y/N said

“I’m flattered.” Hawks said

“Don’t be.” Y/N scoffed

The two slowly walked in a circle as Dabi watched from below. His eyes now clouded of ash.

Hawks let out a laugh. “Hey, you wouldn’t happen to know of any abandoned locations around here, would ya?”

Y/N said nothing.

“I found the craziest thing near an abandoned Wearhouse the other day.” Hawks said running his hands through his hair, “and I think you, might know something about that.”

Y/N’s eye’s began to glow a soft purple.

“Bingo.” Hawks said as he lunged his wing towards Y/N

Y/N flipped around the wing but was stabbed in the arm by one of Hawk’s feathers that seemed to change direction and land in their blind spot.

They grabbed the feather and yanked it out of their arm, leaving a deep gash.

Hawks lunged in again going for the other arm.

Y/N dogged, grabbing the throwing knife from their side and piercing Hawks in the abdomen before flipping out of the way.

Hawks grunted in pain and grabbed his side.

“That’s all I needed.” Y/N said as their eye’s began to glow a malicious shade of purple.

“What….what did you stab me with?!” Hawks tumbled and fell to the ground

Dabi had finally made his way to the top of the building and was now quietly observing Y/N.

Hawk’s eyes began to glow the same purple as Y/N falling to his knees throwing his head back and letting out an agonizing scream.

Dabi’s eyes widened. Holding his breath involuntarily.

Y/N walked over to Hawks cupping his face in their hands running their sharp nail down his cheek.

“I do know a good, abandoned warehouse near here. Would you like me to show you what happened there?” Y/N asked Hawks

Hawk’s eyes began to water as his wings fell limp taking on the image similar to that of a fallen angel.

“Cheshire!” Dabi yelled, “Move!”

A piece of cloth wrapped around Y/N arm and pulled them back forcefully. Their head slamming on the ground making the world around them go blurry and a high pitch ring blast in their ears.

Dabi’s flames began to light up the area. Revealing the red eyes that had been watching from the shadows.

A second piece of cloth wrapped around Y/N’s other arm pulling them across the floor and then up against a wall, followed by a hard kick to the stomach.

“YOU!” Eraser Head yelled blinded by his anger. Landing punch after punch on Y/N body.

“You did that to him! IT WAS YOU!.” Azawa yelled landing a hard punch to the head, knocking their head back against the wall.

Dabi ran in between, keeping his eyes towards the ground, taking a few blows to the face before lifting his hands.

“Burn.” Dabi said as a powerful burst of flame knocked Aizawa back.

“Oh shit, oh shit.” Dabi said as he looked back at Y/N, “Hey..HEY DOLL FACE…stay with me!”

Y/N looked up to see Dabi turn back around and let out another blast of flames.

“That feels warm.” Y/N thought, “I’m always so cold….please, don’t stop.”

The world around them turned dark.

. . . . .

“It’s always so cold here.” A familiar voice echoed through their head. “We have to keep warm, we have to keep going.”

. . . .

Y/N floated in and out of consciousness as blue light shone through the dark of their eye lids.

They felt their arm restrains crumble and their feet were once again on the floor.

. . . .

“Come on slow poke! We’re gunna leave you behind if you can’t catch me!”

The voice became clearer and more recognizable.

“Where’s my brother?” Y/N whispered, “I’m coming! I can catch up!”

. . . .

They felt arms wrap around their body and the feeling of a light dusting of mist across their face.

. . . .

“Tag you’re it!” A little boy yelled as Y/N jolted awake.

Jumping up out of bed at headquarters and into a fighting stance.
