batman kissing superman against a wall

Not every kiss has to have a story. Sometimes 'a kiss is just a kiss', and sometimes that kiss just happens to find you shoved against a wall after defeating the bad guys. Because sometimes a kiss is just celebratory; a spur-of-the-moment, too-much-adrenaline-and-nowhere-to-put-it, body-pressed-up-against-body, heart-beating-out-of-your-ribs type of celebration that needs to be done, not where the last bad guy was defeated, but in an alley, away from your other allies who are in your ear anyway, asking for updates or something.

The thing is, Clark hadn't expected to be hauled off into the nearest alley Batman could find. He hadn't expected anything, really, maybe everyone heading back to the watch tower to regroup or to grab a few bites at that diner that boasted a peach cobbler milkshake he was dying to try. Maybe a tiny bit of him assumed Batman was pulling him away so that he could assess any damage Clark might've missed of himself during the fight.

He didn't expect to hear Batman's heart, kick up a notch, before Clark was shoved against the alley wall. There had been a moment where Clark's confusion had met something that might've been hesitation from Batman, but before he could even ask what the man was doing, Batman had surged up, and suddenly Clark was being kissed.

Not every kiss has to be a story, but that doesn't mean he can't wax poetic about it. 'A kiss is just a kiss', except when days-old stubble, scratches across your chin in a way that feels way too nice. 'A kiss is just a kiss', except when the arm that shoved you first, slinks around your waist to pull you closer, slotting together like shapes in Tetris. 'A kiss is just a kiss', except when it's from a man you've secretly harbored feelings for, and maybe are just now realizing it might be mutual.

'A kiss is just a kiss', even when it ends in a smaller kiss that feels final.

'A kiss is just a kiss', even when the man you're definitely in love with, is pulling away and putting distance between the two of you.

'A kiss is just a kiss', even when that same man, doesn't even glance back at you when he leaves.

Not every kiss has to have a story, and maybe this one never did.
