Summary
Historia, the bastard Princess of Paradis, has never known true freedom. Born in the slums, then taken by the Emperor and forced to bear his collar, to allow him to steal all of her immensely powerful magic. Historia has given up her hope, her body and her mind. Until she is forced to take a slave, as is tradition in her kingdom.
Ymir's people have been defeated, destroyed and enslaved. She is given as a gift, and she is furious. But she has lost, and she cannot get out of her situation, and something about Historia makes Ymir want to protect her, defend her. When Ymir is witness to the horrible acts committed against Historia every night, as ordered by the Emperor himself, she decides to defend her little master.
They form an unlikely bond, and it is within that bond that Historia realizes her power and finally uses the one word always denied to her—no. No more. Never again.
