Chuuya’s throat burned—hot and dry—and before she could hide it, the cough tore out of her. When it finally passed, she looked down.

Red as blood. Perfect. Whole.It shouldn’t have been beautiful. But under the yellow kitchen light, it was—soft edges glowing like it had every right to live inside her.
