“I want you to do it.”
“Everyone will see them.”
“That’s the point.”
“You bruise like a peach, and I’m your direct boss.”
“Don’t care. There’s nothing else I want. I want you to do it and if you don’t, then I’ll assume you don’t love me.”
“That’s not true, Spencer. Also, you’re trying to manipulate me.”
“Yes. Come on, Aaron, I’m done with the teasing from everyone.”
“There's no reason for you to ask me for this. They will talk, and not in a good way.”
“Aaron Hotchner, I will not repeat myself.”
The older man knew he just wouldn’t win the argument.
“Okay, but I won’t be the one answering any questions.”
“I will hold a press conference if necessary.” Spencer teased him with a coy smile and Aaron couldn’t resist him.
The next day, their team was attending a gala with many of the departments. They had to be dressed up for it, so Aaron had chosen a beautiful perfectly fitted suit. He’d had to go to four different fittings since his body had changed a little and he looked a little full, according to himself, to which Spencer had told him that he was grateful to have more skin to touch and lick. There was a little greying going on but he didn’t care; again, Spencer had shown him just how much he liked Aaron’s body changing with age.
Spencer had opted for a suit too, however, he was wearing a dark purple one, with a cute bow tie. His hair was tousled with care, and it made him look younger than he was, to no one’s surprise.
As the gala went on and everyone mingled with different agents around, Spencer had lost the bowtie and his pale salmon-colored shirt had its collar open, so everyone could see an array of hickeys around his neck and collarbones.
He was talking about every topic people mentioned, garnering attention, but not in the usual way. People kept staring at the bruises and the smug smile on the agent when someone tried to comment on them.
Unit Chief Aaron Hotchner had been passed around higher-ups, talking about new policies and law history, when one of the Department Chiefs walked up to him just to let him know his boy was being ogled like a piece of meat.
He found Spencer surrounded with a few women who were seemingly getting a little handsy with him, and some other agents who looked ready to see if Spencer was available for something other than to talk about law enforcement procedures.
He downed the last of his whiskey, excused himself from the group and walked directly to the small group smiling and chatting up his lover. Spencer looked so smug and Aaron wanted to strangle him, but Spencer had already let him do that. People could see the trace of his fingers.
“I’m sorry to all of you, but it seems I am required elsewhere.” Spencer’s innocent face didn’t fool his lover. “Ready to go, boss?” He teased the older agent.
“Yes. Please, walk this way.”
Aaron could hear the women whispering and he knew they’d be talking about what they saw. He led Spencer gently through the crowd, and he noticed how everyone ended up staring at the marks on the pale skin of the young Doctor.
He was not happy, because he was very private about it, but he couldn’t help feeling pride that everyone could see the marks on his lover’s skin. He’d felt the stares, and the judgement of him having a lover almost two decades younger, but he loved that man and he wouldn’t deter just because others wanted a piece of Spencer. He had won the man’s heart, and he deserved him.
When he’d finally gotten Spencer into one of the maintenance closets around the ballroom, and his younger lover looked all disheveled, with a new set of fresh marks on his skin including a bitemark on the back of his neck, Aaron walked like he was bulletproof.
Maybe he liked it if people talked.
