Abram set the dye box and contacts on the edge of the sink. He stared at his reflection for a long time.
The boy in the mirror stared back—eyes dull, face pale, hair matted from travel. His roots are his fathers. The eyes that laid underneath green-brown contacts were his fathers’s too. His father’s face. The tension in his features was all his mother. A face that was never his own.
