Summary
Being in the desert, most of the things you manage to hear, especially in the Afghan desert, are the distant gunshots, the airplane engines passing by, the radio every so often asking for your position and status; but in most cases, as James, Sirius, Remus, Peter, and Regulus discovered, the most you manage to hear is the wind hitting the surroundings and creating a sound similar to a howl, incredibly similar to the one heard in movies.
