Summary
Astarion steals a cursed ring that makes him guilty over even his smallest misdeeds. Does that guilt lead him to act better? No, of course not! When the effects of the ring worsen, Astarion turns to Gale for a cure: Astarion asks to be punished.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________When Gale turned the key in the door, Astarion flinched. A moment later, he was staring at Gale’s boots with embarrassment thick in his throat. Astarion hadn’t even realized that he’d been kneeling. It was Gale, not Godey—Gale. Gale, damn it. He scrambled to his feet a moment too late and feigned nonchalance until he saw the riding crop Gale was drawing out of his robe. Astarion’s body was wound so tight that his muscles tensed without his control.
Gale cleared his throat. “How are you feeling?”
“I’m fine,” Astarion snapped. His eyes darted from Gale’s face to the crop in his hands and back again. “Can we get on with this?”
Gale set the crop beside the chair along with a closed bag. Then he pulled out a chair to sit. Astarion stayed standing.
“All right then. How would you like to proceed?” Gale asked.
