Work Text:

The first time Tweek sets his eyes on Craig he instantly falls in love. Tweek can feel his still heart start to flutter deep within his chest. He can feel the last of his blood rush to his cheeks, and into the tips of his ears. Tweek has never felt so giddy and alive before so it must be love. That’s what his vampire brain comes up with. That he’s finally found his mate! He can’t help it. He walks towards Craig, and slides in the seat right next to him on the park bench.

Craig gives him a puzzled look. He wasn’t expecting anyone to be out this late at night, and yet here is some random blond starring deep into his soul. Craig takes a drag of his cigarette waiting for the blond to speak up and say something.

Tweek tits his head slightly to the left before he speaks, “has your mother ever told you to wear garlic when you’re out this late at night?”

Craig is even more confused. He looks around the empty space thinking someone might pop up, and tell him he’s in some sort of prank. He doesn’t fully comprehend the question the blond is asking. “Why would she?” He laughs as he drops the bud of his cigarette onto the snow covered ground.

Tweek leans closely to him so close that it makes him want to lean away. When Craig looks into his green eyes he swears he sees them shift into a red color. It’s weird, but strangely beautiful. “You might attract the wrong attention.” Tweek smiles widely at Craig and that’s when he notices just how sharp his teeth are.

“The wrong attention?” Craig parrots back in question.

Tweek nods rapidly, “from some not so good people.” Then the blond laughs as if he told the funniest joke, “well not people…but you know?” Tweek taps his neck to help clarify just what he means.

Craig again looks around waiting for someone, anyone, to jump out and end this prank, and yet the night is silent. “You can’t mean vampires…”

“You’re so beautiful.” Again Tweek is in his personally space. Craig blushes deeply, he’s at a loss for words. He has no idea what is going on, or what this blond stranger wants. One moment he’s talking about vampires and now he’s saying that he’s beautiful. It’s weird!! “I could look at you forever.”

“What are you on man?” Craig desperately asks. When snuck out of his room to smoke he wasn’t expecting for any of this to happen. He was hoping to destress, not to be stressed.

“I think I love you.” Tweek continues to profess his love to Craig, while Craig is looking for a way out of his situation.

“I don’t even know you!” Craig is floored, now the blond is saying he loves him. What happened to the conversation about vampires and garlic because Craig would rather talk about that than this love stuff!! “If I wear garlic will that keep you away?” He growls at the blond. He’s not really expecting a serious answer out of the other, but strange things just keep happening.

Tweek’s smile wavers slightly and his brows twitch, “yeah, it would…but the moment you’d take it off I’ll be right back by your side.” He sounds oddly hurt.

Craig is silent. He’s processing what the other had just said. Garlic would keep him away, as long as he had it on him. The moment it was gone he’d be back right on his tail. Craig feels a cold sense of dread wash over him. He can’t help but stand up rigid and cold. Slowly he turns his head to look down at the blond who’s smiling innocently back up at him. He licks his lips before asking his question slowly, “you’re not…a…uh vampire…are you?”

Tweek hums for a couple seconds. Then he reaches over and intertwines his hand with Craig’s. He can feel the unsteady, rapid heart rate of the other, but also he feels warmth. Like the warmth that settles in his chest when he first saw Craig sitting all alone on the park bench. When he first noticed that they were meant to be together forever. Tweek’s then moves to lean his head on Craig’s arm. “And if I am?” He barely answers above a whisper.

Damn. Craig is toast. Farewell cruel world. That’s all Craig can think of because the blond who’s humming ‘Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star’ on his arm is a fucking vampire. Craig knows what vampires do, it’s not rocket science. They drink blood, and he’s so sure that he’s about to become this guys next meal. He should have stayed home under his warm blue blankets, but noooo he had to be edgy and come out to smoke. What a cruel twist of fate. “Am I your next meal?” Might as well rip the question off quickly like a bandaid.

Tweek stops humming, and then after a couple seconds he bursts out into a loud fit of giggles. “No silly, you’re not my next meal!” He then pauses, “not unless you want to be, but I don’t want to eat you right now.” He pulls Craig down back onto the bench. Craig is now starring right back at him, “I know better than that. First since you’re going to be my mate I have to ask you on a date!” Tweek announces happily, and Craig can’t be more horrified.

“Mate?”

“Vampires mate for life, and you’re my mate.  First we have to go on many dates.” Tweek informs him matter of factly.

This will be the last time Craig looks around for anyone, he’s almost begging, for anyone to come out and say this is some elaborate prank. Only the full moon is here to witness this situation unfold, and she will not save him. “I don’t even know your name?!” This is so absurd. How can this blond claim to be his mate without knowing his name.

“Tweek. That’s my name. What’s the name of my soulmate?”

Craig almost doesn’t answer, because why would he? This is crazy. He must be crazier because he does answer Tweek, “Craig”

“Craig.” Tweek says his name like it’s a blessing. “I love your name. It’s lovely just like you. I just know we’ll be so happy together”

“Oh yeah? How can you be so sure?” Craig shoots back.

Tweek takes both his hands intertwining their hands together. He pulls Craig closer to him so that they are closely face to face. Craig blushes and he notices that Tweek’s green eyes are now a deep, alluring red color, “I can see our future together, my love.” Tweek lets go of Craig and smiles at him with his sharp fangs.

Craig feels the air be knocked out of him. He’s trembling when he quickly stands up, “Good night” that’s all he can muster to say before he starts to run away back to the direction of his house.

He can hear Tweek giggling in the back, it’s pretty, so pretty that for a couple seconds Craig slows down. He turns to look back at the blond vampire, and he’s still sitting at the bench. Tweek must have noticed him stop to look at him because he smiles widely and waves. “Goodnight my love! I’ll see you on our first date!” That makes Craig snap out of whatever spell he was under. His legs start running, and they don’t stop until he’s safely inside his house.

He rushes into the kitchen, and straight to the fridge. He knows exactly what he’s looking for. In one of the shelfs he finds cloves of garlic. With a sigh of relief he pulls the clove close to his chest like a precious treasure. This will surely keep that crazy, lovesick vampire away. Craig closes the fridge, and he’s almost out of the kitchen when he hesitates. He doesn’t know why but he does. He looks down at the clove in his hands. He knows he should take the clove with him back to his room. It’s the safest and the smartest thing to do. He can’t trust the vampire. He could be lying about the whole soulmate thing. He could be tricking him into becoming his next meal. His brain screeches at him to carry the garlic with him.

Craig places the clove of garlic on the counter. Before he could second guess his decision he hurries upstairs to his room. He jumps into his bed, and hopes that this was all a terrible nightmare. One that would be over by tomorrow.

Outside his window, Tweek’s sighs happily, just as he saw in his vision his love left that pesky garlic behind.  Now he can happily plan their first date.
