Chapter Text
Clouds started covering the sky more and more, snow falling to the ground, the air becoming bitter and cold as the days passed by, and soon enough..it was December 1st. Zach Varmitech had called another meeting within the villains group.
It seemed that Donita, Dabio and Gourmand had arrived early, since Paisley and her henchman Rex were nowhere to be seen. “Where is she?!” Zach paced back and forth around the room, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Relax Zach, I’m sure they’ll be here soon. It's the weather.” Donita followed up with, checking her newly painted nails for the christmas season.
“Ughhh..whatever.” Zach sat down, planting his face into the table as he got bored of waiting. But just then, Paisley opened the door, walking into the room with Rex following behind her. They were both shivering a ton, their hands rubbing their arms. The other villains heard the door creak open, their heads turning towards the door. Zach stood up, his fists clenching at his sides as he stomped over to Paisley.
“Well there you are! What took you so long Paisley?!” Zach shouted at the tiny woman, who gave him an unamused look. She rolled her eyes before walking towards the table and not giving him a single look as she spoke. “W-what did you expect? It’s s-snowing pretty hard out there..eugh.” Paisley shivered, sitting down in a chair as she wiped snow off her shoulder and out of her hair.
“She’s not lying you know..I got my boot stuck in the snow.” Rex quietly mumbled as he sat down in an empty chair conveniently placed next to her. Silence passed as Zach continued to give glares, the room started to fill with tension. “Anyways..what did you even invite us for Zach?” Donita spoke up, her tone of voice slightly aggravated.
He looked at Donita, his shoulders dropping as he sighed and put on a grin. “Well, I, Zach Varmitech-” “We know who you are.” “..Anyways, I’ve brought you all here to discuss our next money making plan for Christmas this year!” Zach proudly yelled out, as if he was so confident that everyone would agree with him.
The room was immediately filled with a mix of sighs and disapproving groans from Donita and Gourmand. While Paisley still had her arms crossed together, raising an eyebrow. “Seriously?” Zach’s expression of pride immediately turned into a frown as he shrugged. “What?”
“I don’t know about you guys, but I'm not doing this again.” Gourmand stood up from his seat. “What–Gaston, what do you even mean?! We always do this!” Zach yelled from across the room. “Every time we do one of these “special plans,” it fails because those kratt croutons get in the way!” “I hate to agree with him but he's right.” Donita got up from her seat as well. “We should go. Come on Dabio.” “Wha-what?!” Zach stuttered, quickly looking over to Paisley and Rex, who were both about to leave as well.
“Are you all really about to quit?!?” Yelling, Zach blocked the door. “You can’t just-..leave!” “Well unless you have a better plan, we will.” Donita said, waiting for a response from him. He was obviously struggling to think of an idea–a reason for them to stay. Then, Dabio spoke up. “Can’t we do something..uh..fun this year? Like a christmas party!” He was cheerful, happy to give a suggestion.
“A party? That’s kinda childish don’t you think?” Donita raised an eyebrow, her hands going to her hips. “Well-..then maybe not a party…er..” He took back his statement quickly, going silent as so did the rest of the room. “Zach, do you mind moving out of the way?” Paisley calmly asked, taking a step closer. “NO!!!” Zach screamed out, his voice cracking. Paisley crossed her arms, shaking her head a bit.
“Zach, I'm asking nicely–” “No!! You aren’t listening to what I have planned!”
Donita scoffed, rolling her eyes as he continued to shout. “You know I’ve just had enough of this Zachary.” She said she went to try and pry Zach away from the door so she could leave. “HEY! Let go Donita!!-
As the two continued fighting, Rex leaned over to Dabio, whispering. “Have..have they always been like this?” “Yep.” “..oh.” Gourmand chimed in. “It’s pointless to stop them now, they’ll just keep fighting..and fighting..”
Donita and Zach paused, both immediately glaring at the chef. “Oh please darling, we don’t fight that often.”
“..um. You sure?”
Gourmand asked, his attention turning towards Donita’s grip on Zach’s arm. She instantly let go, wiping her hand on her jacket. “Well it doesn’t matter!” She waved her hand. “We’ll be going now.” “Wait!-“ A voice yelled. It was Rex. “Maybe..Dabio is right!”
“Excuse me?” Zach asked. Rex placed a hand on Dabio’s shoulder with a very nervous-looking smile. “Maybe not a party but a fun Christmas activity! I remember this one specific thing I did with my family..” He mentioned, a good amount of the group suddenly gaining interest.
Rex had thought for a moment before perking up. “Oh yeah! Secret Santa!” “..really now?” Donita said, raising an eyebrow as a smirk fell onto her face. “You know, that's not such a bad idea darling.” “It would be nice to have a break from those kratts..” Gourmand mumbled as he crossed his arms.
Zach rolled his eyes, and not wanting to cause any more damage, he groaned out. “OKAY. FINE. We’ll do the stupid thing!” He stomped over back to his seat, plopping down and placing his chin in his palm as he leaned against the table.
“..so..how exactly does this work Rex?” Paisley spoke up, Rex going to look at her with a goofy smile.
“Well hun-..Paisley, we need to figure out who goes with who. It's simple really! You draw names out of.. a hat!..or something like that. Then, whoever you get, you need to get a gift for!” Rex happily explained, taking the attention from Zach again. He then took off his hard hat, holding it out. “We just need paper and a pen to write our names.” Dabio then conveniently pulled out a note pad from his pocket.
“Uh..did..did you just have that the entire time?” “I like drawing!”
Rex took the note pad, grabbed a pen from his pocket and started writing everyone's names down. He had secretly hoped to get Paisley, after all, she was his wife. But, was it really a secret when it was obvious he was heads over heels for her?
As he finished up writing the names, he ripped up the paper carefully, dumping the small pieces into his hard hat, shaking it just enough to mix them up.
“Alrightly! Take a name!”
He went around, letting everyone pick one. Paisley, Dabio, Gourmand, Donita, Zach, then himself. Zach angrily grabbed the paper, letting out a huff. Everyone had a different reaction to the person they were gonna have to get a gift to. Gourmand looked at the person he had gotten, almost happy about it. “Ey, we aren’t uh..we aren’t supposed to tell who we got, right?” “That’s right!” “...okay then.”
Zach seemed almost pissed at who he got, he then sighed loudly. “Great! Now get out!!” He angrily shouted. Donita turned to him, looking him up and down and teasing him. “Weren’t you just begging us to stay?” “..I CHANGED MY MIND! Leave!!” He pointed towards the door, frowning.
…
On their jet, Paisley was driving back home. She actually hadn’t checked who she pulled yet, in fact she was a bit hesitant to. Although she had known Rex for a LONG while, she barely knew what his interests were. He liked the stuff SHE liked, but if she ended up getting him, she knew she would have to get him something special. Something nice.
She shouldn’t have been overthinking it, right? I mean, it was a 1 out of 6 chance, she could’ve even possibly gotten herself. It wasn’t a big deal either, just a small christmas game while they relaxed for the month. If anything, she needed this.
“So…Paisleyy…” She heard a voice from behind her, and not taking her eyes off the sky, she responded. “Yes Rex?” “Who did you gett?~” He asked quietly as if there was someone watching them. She shook her head and rolled her eyes with a small smile on her face. “I thought we weren't supposed to tell?” “I could make an exception for my beautiful wife..” Paisley chuckled, her cheeks turning a bit pink.
“First of all, no need to flatter me..and second, I haven't checked yet.” “..Ah. Well I'm still gonna compliment you!” Rex stated proudly, putting his hands on his hips. “Go sit down Rex.”
When finally getting home, Paisley took off her jacket, putting it on a coat rack. She sat down on her couch, grabbing the paper she had in her pocket. She opened it, hoping she wouldn’t get Rex. Then..she looked at the name.
Rex
Welp. She should've never jinxed herself.
She groaned out, plopping her head onto the back of the couch she sat on. Rex noticed her reaction and got worried almost instantly. He sat next to her. “Hey, you okay Pais? Is it the headaches again?” Paisley looked up at him, and saw that he had started holding her hand. “No no, i’m good.” “Are you sure? I can go grab-” “Rex.” She rubbed his arm gently.
She didn’t want him worrying over her, especially if it was just her about to stress over something so small. “I’m okay. I mean it.” “,,alright.” A few moments of silence passed, before Rex spoke up. “Hey, you know what?..I can make us some warm coffee!” He cheerfully said before kissing Paisley on the jaw. She nodded in response, putting on a smile.
“That would be nice.”
