"I can't believe that we are having to save Bruce Wayne," Clint said. "This is so not what we should be doing."
"He needs help," Natasha replied. "We were close by already.'
"That doesn't explain why SHIELD sent us in. They normally wouldn't and would let his usual allies step in."
She paused the conversation long enough for them to take out another set of men in the facility they were breaking into to rescue Bruce. There was no use being quiet anymore as the alarms were already blaring from their arrival.
"They didn't send us," she said. "I was asked by an acquaintance to do this."
"Seriously, Nat? We're doing this as a favor?"
Natasha didn't answer him and just kept on walking down the hall. They were getting close to the cell where Bruce was being held and she didn't want to waste any time when they were so close to him. Plus if she answered his questions he would only ask more and there was no reason to open herself to that.
The door had more guards at it and she quickly took one out while Clint shot the other down from where he had fallen behind in her rush to get to the door.
There was a key for the door helpfully on one of those guards, which meant she was able to get it open quickly. Bruce was standing and facing the door when it opened. He stepped closer to him.
"Ah, I was wondering what was going on," he said. "It was too quick for the Justice League, and much too quiet for my children."
"Alfred called since I was already in the area," Natasha said, with a smile.
Bruce gave her a quick kiss and headed out.
"What the fuck, Nat?" Clint said.
