Warmth of the Stars

Summary:

Your meeting and flowering relationship with the lady of the shooting stars after a wayward spaceship mishap.

Work Text:

It was an awkward meeting for sure. What was supposed to be a simple sightseeing trip through the cosmos quickly went south after you had failed to notice a stray asteroid about to graze your spacecraft, causing you to spiral out of control. You had managed to intersect with what looked like a comet at first, but as you drew closer, saw a glimpse of an observatory before you were knocked out by the impact.

When you awoke, you were greeted by several, small, multicolored star-like creatures; but more importantly, the towering woman standing over you with a concerned expression.

“Oh! You’re awake. I was so worried…are you okay?” the woman fretted. Her voice was soft and quiet, a nice balm to the ringing in your ears. Immediately you tried to ascertain your whereabouts, to find yourself in a comfy, purple bedroom.

“Wh-where am I?” you croaked out. “O-oh, sorry. Where are my manners?” the woman apologized. “This is the Comet Observatory, our means of traveling the cosmos. My name is Rosalina. These little friends are the Lumas. Your spacecraft crashed into us, no?”

You nodded. “Sorry about that…”

“Oh, no, you don’t need to be sorry. It was an accident, I’m sure. No one here was hurt by the crash. I just need to know if you’re okay. That must have been quite a fall…” Rosalina continued. You tried to prop yourself up but found your whole body to be sore, before shaking your head no. “Oh, you’re hurt? It’s okay, we’ll get you right as rain in no time. For now, why don’t you just rest your weary head for a while, eh?” She said as she stroked your hair as you faded back into the realm of unconsciousness.

As you slowly recovered, you two got to know each other well. She often regaled you with various tales about her adventures through the cosmos. The beauty she has seen, the faces she’s met, this one red plumber that helped her out a few times which you found odd, among many other things. Eventually, you and she got to negotiate your stay at the Observatory. With too many hands working on your damaged spacecraft, food and supplies for the Observatory were running low. It was quickly agreed that you would go on supply runs to other galaxies while Rosalina stayed behind and supervised the reconstruction of your spacecraft. It was a bit nerve-wracking, loading yourself up into the Launch Star to places unknown to you, but you progressed forward despite that.

The first few times were rocky, stumbling through new environments with Rosalina as your navigator to find whatever you needed to bring back that day, whether it be food, machine parts, or the elusive Power Star to keep the lights on. Regardless of the results, she always prioritized your safe return and welcomed you back with a nice meal, one that she prepared herself now that she got to spend more time at the Observatory. Slowly, things started to fall into routine. You were no acrobat by any means, but you could make your way around obstacles pretty easily once you knew the paths. Soon, you barely found yourself failing any mission given to you, which made the homecoming meal afterwards all the sweeter. Which made you notice some…interesting things happen with your host.

Perhaps due to her more lifestyle becoming more sedentary on the Observatory, and more opportunities to cook, you started to notice Rosalina…changing. She was becoming more full-figured, her curves pressing up against her flowy dress. Her chest became much more noticeable, her rear caused her chair to creak when she sat down for storytime, her face was wreathed in softness, and her belly hung over her waistline quite generously. You couldn’t help but stare a little, despite your best efforts. But what was even odder was how she started treating you. You noticed it in how she gave you warm headpats after a successful supply run, how she cooed and cleaned your face after dinnertime, how she waved goodnight as you went to sleep in your temporary quarters. She had turned almost doting towards you. And yet, you couldn’t find it in yourself to resist.

One day, you found yourself fumbling your mission pretty hard. A Prankster Comet was orbiting one of your regular routes, where you found the place swarming with enemies all of a sudden. Thankfully, you were able to escape before things got too out of hand, though not without you being scuffed with dirt and grime and getting a cut on your cheek. As you slumped back to the Observatory, you found yourself wandering over to Rosalina, who was in the middle of settling down two feisty Lumas. You could only whine as you tugged on her dress a little.

“Hm? Oh, it’s you! Back already-“ Rosalina started, before quickly going silent as you stared up at her with sad eyes.

“Aww…what happened? Did you have a rough time out there?”

You silently nod.

“Oh, it’s okay…I’m sure you did your best. Let’s get this cleaned up.” She reassured you as she started leading you towards the Fountain area while she called a Luma to bring over a first aid kit. Once inside, she sat you down and started washing you off. She gently shushed you as she rubbed the lukewarm washcloth against your face, also wiping away any tears you found leaking out. “It’s okay. You’re okay. You didn’t let me down, okay? You could never let me down…”

When the first aid kit came around, she began tending to your wound. “This might sting a little…” she said before dabbing some disinfectant against the cut, only shushing you further as you flinched from the brief pain. “You’re doing so well…” she continued as she applied a bandage before cleaning up the rest of your face. “Let’s get you some rest now, okay? You need it after a hard day like that…”

You nodded, tiredly taking Rosalina’s hand as she led you to the Bedroom. As you were greeted by the same purple bed you found yourself waking up on all those days ago, she grabbed her wand, flicking it around as you found your clothes changing into comfy pajamas, before she let you crawl into bed with her.

Instinctually, you found yourself snuggling up against Rosalina’s new soft form, as she started lightly scratching your back. Your eyes already started to feel heavy as you clutched onto her like a sleepy koala, causing her to chuckle softly.

“You comfy, little baby?” she cooed. You could barely register the words in your sleepy haze, but you let out a small, indignant huff at being called a baby. You were a functioning adult, not a helpless baby.

“Oh? You’re not a baby?” she bantered. “You sure? You’re tucked in nice and snug against my tummy, you’ve responded very well to all the attention I’ve given you, and you haven’t said a single word since you came home. That feels like baby behavior, baby.”

Her teasing did have a point. You did feel uniquely…small in that moment, feeling the need to run to her once you found yourself injured and sad. In a way, she reminded you of your own mother when you were little. Maybe you were feeling a bit infantile with all the fog in your brain…only one word came to mind.

“Mama…”

“That’s right. Mama’s here for you.” Rosalina responded, giving you a little kiss on the head as you fell asleep. Maybe you could stay with her like this for a little while longer…
