Sick

Summary:

Jiro gets sick. She likely picked up some germs at the music club place she went to with that douche bag last work.

Notes:

I think I need to get better at writing sickfics. Whatever, I feel like Jiro would be smart enough to just stay in bed, unlike most people in sickfics lol (and I love that, but I went a different route this time).

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Jiro first awoke at 4 a.m., struggling to get back to sleep. So at around 4:20, she decided she may as well work on some homework.
It was hard to focus with how much everything hurt, though. Her throat, head, and muscles all seemed to ache. Even the tiniest lights felt bright. Even the smallest noise felt loud.
She felt hot and cold at the same time. She wrapped a blanket around her shoulders as she continued her homework. But she must have finally gotten back to sleep, because the next thing she knew, she was waking up to her alarm at 6 a.m.
She groaned as she got up. Her body was screaming at her to get back into bed, something she was deeply considering. But she only allowed herself to miss school if she was running a fever or throwing up.
She grabbed a thermometer she kept in her room, conscious enough to figure that if the room felt this hot, it was probably her that was burning. The thermometer confirmed her suspicions, showing a temperature of 101.4° (Farenheight).
Jiro curled back up on her bed, immediately reclosing her eyes. Of course, her peace was interrupted by a knock at her door about twenty minutes later.
“Who is it?” Jiro grumbled, the words straining her throat.
“It’s Denki. I was told to make sure you were awake because class is starting pretty soon, and nobody’s seen you all morning,” A voice came from the other side of the door.
Jiro grumbled. “I’m not going to school today…”
Denki peeked in through the now open door, earning another grumble from Kyoka. “Why not?”
“It’s better to stay in bed when sick, and I have a fever, so it’s safe to say I should stay in bed,” Jiro mumbled.
“Okay, agreed. Feel better, Kyoka! I’ll let Mr. Aizawa know,” Denki then closed the door and left.
“Since when are you and Jiro on a first-name basis?” Denki jumped out of his skin when Hagakure spoke.
“You just gave me a heart attack!” Kaminari exclaimed. “Also, for about a week.”
Hagakure nodded. At least, Denki was sure she did. The barrette she was wearing went up and down, so it was likely that’s what her head was doing too.
“Sorry for startling you. Now we’ve got to get to class!” The invisible girl walked off.

Jiro spent most of the school day sleeping, but she did eat lunch at some point. It was now around dinner time, and Kyoka was watching a movie on her laptop (let’s at least pretend she has one of those). She wasn’t in the mood to go downstairs to grab some food, even if she was hungry.
Luckily for her, she didn’t have to go downstairs. She heard a knock at her door, and Denki peeked his head in.
“Evening, Kyoka! Feeling any better?” Denki smiled.
“I took some medicine, so yes, for now,” Kyoka replied.
Denki came fully into her room, holding a tray with a bowl of soup and a couple of rolls. “I brought you some dinner. Bakugo made his amazing chicken noodle soup.”
“Thank you,” Kyoka gave him a weak smile, and sat up a bit straighter so she could eat. Kaminari carefully placed the tray on her lap, and Jiro took a couple of bites of food.
“Mmm, I don’t think I’ve ever tried Bakugo’s soup before, but this is amazing.” Jiro took a few more bites.
“Yeah, he mostly makes it when someone is sick. He made it for me when I had the flu a couple months ago,” Denki responded. “You know, no matter how much he’d like to pretend he doesn’t care, he totally cares about us and our classmates.”

Denki basically hung out with Jiro the whole rest of the day, only leaving once to put the dishes from dinner in the sink. Kaminari continued this routine for multiple days, until Kyoka was feeling better.
And not long after, Denki too came down with the flu.
