Sometimes, Zoë's mind glazed over, like everything was suddenly pointless.
This deep, crushing sense of apathy was hard to hide, as her usual air of fierceness would give way to a blankness that most couldn't parse.
"You seem depressed" the daughter of Zeus commented halfheartedly, like she didn't finally give a word to what Zoë had struggled with all her life. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing's wrong, necessarily" Zoë replied. "I'm fine"
"Okay, sure" Thalia shrugged. "When you decide to stop lying to yourself, come find me. I've dealt with this stuff, too"
Then she walked away, leaving Zoë dumbfounded.
Depressed, she thought, spinning the word around in her mind. Was this really the answer to what was wrong with her?
