Chapter Text
"A bleak land, you say?" David Asteri says, looking up from his desk.
His office was dressed in fine, luxurious wooden furniture with no windows in sight. A fireplace can be seen on the right-hand side of the room, emitting a soft, orange glow. In the middle of the room is a large, rectangular desk, where David is sat. The whole room gives off a nice and cozy vibe, though the intimidating figure in the center spoils the mood.
"I must say, it's been quite a while since I've visited, hasn't it?"
"Yes sir. A millennium, I believe." said a soft, yet stern voice.
"My, I wonder what my subjects have been up to. I hope they haven't forgotten their creator."
"Nonsense. Your likeness could never be forgotten. Your subjects will remember you, for their sake."
"I hope so..."
Suddenly, the star sits up, showing his white, wrinkle-less shirt, plaid in gold accents and a long, black tie with a silver clip attached to it.
"Would you be so kind as to give a report on my subjects' progress?"
"Of course, your Greatness. The humans have made an extraordinary leap in their technological advancements, though I'm slightly worried as to how they're using it."
"Hmm..."
"They've created language, currency, society, and... social class?"
"I see... Is that all?"
"From what I've observed, yes."
"Understood. Thank you, Vinn."
"Of course"
Vinn opens the door to exit the office. A bright, white light gleams through the small opening. He exits in a calm and orderly fashion, leaving David somewhat impressed.
Vinn was always David's favourite. He always got things done before the deadline and oh how he did them perfectly. His efficiency almost made David nervous. Almost.
"Well, time to visit." David thought as he walked toward the exit door of his office, following behind Vinn.
He paused.
Earth, or Project J, as he liked to call it, was a mystery to him. No other planets he's created made intelligent lifeforms that could consciously think like he did. It made him excited. Very excited... Excited to turn them into his little playthings. Excited to torment living beings, real living beings. But he couldn't let himself show this side of him. Not to anyone...
A quick knock on the door snapped him out of his trance. It was Vinn, still waiting for him to come out of his office to travel to Earth. Feeling a bit embarrassed, he hurriedly walked towards the exit to meet with the young assistant.
"Is there something bothering you, your Greatness?" asked Vinn, teasingly.
Feeling a flush forming on his cheeks(?), he tries looking away in the most casual way he could.
"N-no, not at all! Do I seem o-off to you?"
"Of course not, sir. Though, I suppose your face has taken on a pinkish tone."
David knew Vinn was messing with him, so he decided to stop playing his childish game and continue with his ongoing task. Although his attention-to-detail was impeccable, Vinn's personality was too childish for his liking. Though, he hasn't made the effort to try and change him since it always brought joy into his repetitive existence.

The teleportation spell that Vinn used to get to places always astonished him, just like everything else about Vinn. It's gotten to a point where, most things that the young assistant does doesn't even affect him because of how used to it he is. When the young assistant started, he thought his performance would be less than adequate, just like the other candidates. Oh how wrong he was.
However, Vinn's backstory always eluded him. For the life of him, he couldn't find any files of his family, relatives, place of residence, anything. Whenever he caught something, it would always just be a red herring, a trick meant to tease him. And although he's wanted to, he could never find the courage to ask Vinn directly.
Breaking away from yet another trance, the grace finds himself teleported to the planet, Earth. It looked quite different from when he last saw it. Vast jungles and seemingly endless seas had become grey, boring buildings, all around him.
"This isn't how I thought this would look" he said to Vinn.
"Yes, well, you really never know how something really looks until you see it. Just like quantum mechanics."
"You really are entranced with quarks, aren't you?"
"Yes, your Greatness."
"..."
After an awkward silence, Vinn starts chanting a spell to make a disguise so that they appear human to other being to blend into their environment. In a blink, Vinn loses his iconic eye rings and wings, a sad sight to see for David. He's lost his elegant drapery for more a more "casual wear." Headphones around his neck and decked out with chains and baggy jeans, David almost prefers this form over his regular one.
"Be honest, do I look silly?"
"..."
David is looking intently at Vinn's outfit and exposed skin.
"D-David?"
"A-ah! Right... *ech-em* uh yes! It looks great. Perfect, as always, my loyal subject"
Vinn shows a bright smile on his face at the remark, looking very cute to David. Vinn then goes on to explain that they mustn't go by formalities and should use their given names instead to blend in with society.
"So, where would you like to explore first? We're currently in what people call 'New York!'"
Vinn pulls out a phone from his pocket and shows a map to David. He points to a spot on the West-side of the map, presumably being "New York." He watches in awe as Vinn explains the basic geography of Earth.
They decide to make their way to a coffee shop first to make plans instead of being on the side of the pavement. David keeps catching himself trying to glance at Vinn's new form. He can't seem to determine if it's because of awe or lust, but decides not to dwell on it too much.
Once they make it in the shop, they try to order something but struggle miserably.
"Hi! What can I get for you?"
"U-Uh one... coffee, please?"
"Oh, um. What kind? Black? Cappuccino? Latte?"
"Uhm... 2 Late-ays, please?"
"And can I get a name for the order?"
"YOU DARE ASK FOR THE GREA-"
Before David can finish his sentence, Vinn covers his mouth to keep him from incriminating them and tells the cashier their names and pays.
Once they're sat at a table they start talking about they're plan for blending into society. Vinn explained the social norms of society to David while he starts to realize his grave mistake. As Vinn is talking, he fails to notice David getting more and more embarrassed and more and more red.
After he finishes, Vinn finally sees David trying his best to hide his face, and shame, from him as their names are called for their coffee orders. Vinn starts getting up to get their orders, but David insists on going for him.

After they finish talking, they rent out an apartment to stay in and get ready to go to bed.
The apartment has pale yellow walls that add just the right amount of pop into the room. There are 2 bunk beds near the far end of the apartment with comfortable looking sheets and pillows. Next to them is a wooden desk, looking beaten and chipped. On the opposite side of the room is a large closet and kitchen area. Next to the door they find an all white bathroom that looks extremely clean.
Almost immediately after they walk in the apartment, David claims the top-bunk and lies there, triumphantly. Vinn releases a low chuckle at the sight and lies on the bed below it.
After a while of just laying there, Vinn starts to doze off.
Almost like he sensed this, David says, "Sweet dreams, my loya- I mean...Vinn," remembering their rule.
Vinn chuckles at David's attempt, mockingly, and wished him a good night back.
"Night..."
