Wee Con Drabble Workshop collection

Summary:

A collection of drabbles from the wee con drabble workshop run by fpwoper and Dracothelizard

Unedited, unbeta'd just what was written on the postcard in the time allowed.

Chapter 1: Prompt: Buttons, sandwich

Chapter Text

Buttons soars below the cloudline, scanning the shoreline. There are disadvantages to the form he takes for his love, for sure, but the keenness of his new eyesight delights him as he dives down to skim the waves.

She likes to play, the lady sea. Always has done. And there are no ships here for her to throw her waves against; merely an inn close to the shore.

It's deserted, mainly. Just two people sat on the deck, resting.

Buttons glides closer. They don't look at him.

Good.

He's no hawk, with talons, but what he has serves well enough as he dives and grabs.

His claws dig into soft bread, dig their way into the cheese it sandwiches.

His wings beat powerfully and he ignores the, "Oi, you fucker!"

Being with his lady love is all well and good, but sometimes a bird just needs a sandwich.

Chapter 2: Doug, notebook

Chapter Text

Doug loves beautiful things and there's beauty everywhere.

He carries his notebook with him wherever he goes. Sometimes it's sketches. Sometimes it's notes.

More and more these days, his notebook is filled with the same subject. The one that fills his every thought and waking moment.

The one thing he shouldn't think about.

The one thing that should be a secret, but isn't anymore. Not after he'd walked back into his room to see his student drop the notebook like hot coals.

They'd shared a look; they couldn't share anything else.

But this morning the ever-punctual Mary comes into her lesson late.

"Stede's run away," she says.

Chapter 3: Prompt: Nigel Badminton, found family

Chapter Text

He's always thought 'found family', as a concept, ridiculous.

Family is blood. Family is duty. Family is leaving your line in a better place than you found it. It's not for warm, fuzzy feelings.

But then, Stede Bonnet is exactly the sort of person who would believe in that piffle.

If a man can't do family the way it ought to be done, of course they're going to make up some woolly-headed nonsense.

It's not like a man can be happy like that, running away to sea away from everything a man should be.

Finding happiness in family? What a ridiculous concept.
