Chapter Text
The mornings in heaven were always perfect. Whether that meant you wanted to wake up to rain or to sun, it was always nice. Today was a sunny morning, which was perfect for your plans. Your partner Lute, had wanted to spend the day shopping. Not that either of you needed anything, and everything in heaven was free, but it was a great way to get new ideas for style and clothing you may like. Besides, anytime you got to spend with Lute was great.
You sat up and stretched your wings, and looked around. Looks like Lute had already gotten out of bed. Normally, she woke you up as soon as she was awake, but perhaps she had a reason not to.
You stood up and got dressed in one of your favorite outfits before you left the room and found the reason why Lute didn’t wake you. She had made the two of you breakfast. Which was quite rare of her. Not only that she had made your favorite breakfast food.
“Good morning, dear.” She got two plates with food and walked to the little balcony your home had with a small table and two chairs. You followed her and sat across from her.
“This was super sweet of you.” You started to eat some of the food. It was exactly how you liked it.
“Well, last time we had a day just the two of us, you made breakfast, so I figured I’d see if I could return the favor.” Lute could be so sweet. While she wasn’t a huge fan of public displays of affection, she was perfectly comfortable being one-on-one.
“You should know that it tasted amazing.” You had already eaten all the food on your plate.
“I’m glad you liked it.” Lute was slower to finish her food, but you didn’t mind. It was nice to sit in the quiet of your home before going out to the shopping district.
Once Lute was finished eating, the two of you finished getting ready to leave.
“Do you have everything you need, my dear?” Lute asked, already prepared to leave.
“I think so?”
“Umbrella for if it rains?”
“Check.”
“Anything you’d need to touch up your look?”
“Check”
“A fidget toy for if we get stuck in line, or you just need something to fidget with?”
“I’m bringing Lute Jr.” You held out a Tamagotchi Lute had gotten you a while ago that you had fittingly named Lute Jr.
“Of course you are.” Lute smiled. She found it adorable how much you loved that thing. “Then if you’re ready, let's get going.” The two of you took off and flew to the shopping district. Being able to fly made travel so convenient.
You two landed near where the clothing stores were. Though is it a store if everything is free? Hard to tell.
“Anything catch your eye?” Lute let you decide where to go, as you were the one who wanted to go shopping in the first place.
“Maybe that one?” You just picked the closest store. The two of you walked into it and looked around.
“What if I pick outfits for you to try on and you pick outfits for me to try on?” You suggested. The idea came to you when you were looking at some clothing that reminded you of Lute's style.
“If that's what you’d like to do, then that works for me.” The two of you separated momentarily to grab whatever outfits you wanted the other to try on. Then you two reconvened in front of the changing room.
“How about you go first?” Lute held out the outfits she picked out for you to take. You swapped her for the outfits you were holding.
“Sure!” You went into the changing room and one by one changed into the different outfits she picked out for you. Some were similar to your usual style, while some were just what was in season. However, one that you particularly thought was cute and Lute seemed to agree was a grey turtleneck sweater with black cargo pants. It was very similar to Lute's own style but with a fun flair to it.
“I think I’ll keep this one and a few others I liked.” You had changed back into your normal outfit and now had a good collection of outfits you would be taking with you.
“You looked great in all of them.” Lute’s compliments always made you smile.
“Okay, your turn!” Lute then went into the changing room and tried on the outfits you had picked for her. Lots of them were similar to what she already wore, but one outfit was actually a grey suit.
“Hm.” Lute hadn’t officially commented on it, but she hadn’t expressed dislike for it.
“Do you like it?” You knew if Lute didn’t like it, she’d have said so, but that didn’t mean she liked it enough to keep it.
“It's not bad. I just don’t know where I’d wear such formal attire.”
“You never know when a formal event may arise. Could be useful.”
“Hm, you are right. I’ll take it then.” Then Lute went and changed back into her normal attire and brought out the few outfits she had deemed worthy of taking with her.
The rest of the day was spent stopping by different stores and either finding something to take or just moving on. There had been a stop at a cafe for a bite to eat before continuing. Now it was time to head back home. Once they were back home, both were quick to put away the things they had acquired before settling down on a fluffy beanbag in front of their TV.
“This was nice.” You rested your head on her shoulder.
“I’ll make sure we get to do something similar again soon then my dear.” Lute wrapped and arm around your waist, kissed you on the forehead, and then used her free hand to use the remote to turn the TV on to something mindless. Today had been a good day.
