Playing Doctor

Summary:

Angela wants to play doctor. Amanda is happy to oblige

Very loosely based on TNTL 177

Notes:

Trying to get back into the writing groove, so this is short but sweet. I have an idea for a Thanksgiving fic too, so don’t worry, I’m still working on stuff.

This is all fake, read the tags!

Work Text:

It was a quiet day. That is, until Amanda looked up from her laptop just in time to stop a little doctor bag from crashing into her lap.

“Mama, play doctor with me!” Angela exclaims excitedly.

Amanda smiles and shuts her laptop, eager to take a break. “Sure, honey. Am I the doctor or the patient?”

“The patient. You’re sick,” Angela replies.

Amanda comes to the carpet and lays down as Angela busies herself with unloading her kit all over the floor. She wraps the stethoscope around her neck and takes out a notepad and pencil and taps it, almost in thought.

“Hmmm, what seems to be the problem today, Lady?”

Amanda rolls her eyes and thinks for a minute. “Well, I think I have a cold.”

“I’ll be the judge of that!” Angela says, taking out a little hammer and tapping it all along Amanda’s arms and legs. Luckily, she’s being gentle this time.

Angela uses her little stethoscope to listen to Amanda’s forehead and prompts her to cough while scribbling things down on her notepad. After a couple more tests, she sits back and looks over her ‘notes’.

“I’m sorry to tell you this,” she starts, “but it looks like you have the plague.”

Amanda gasps in shock. “The plague?? From where!?”

“From this rat!” Angela cries as she rips a little rubber rat from her doctor kit.

The pair shriek in terror and Angela flings the fake rat across the room.

“What should I do doctor?” Amanda asks.

“Guess you gotta die, I don’t know!” Angela says, shrugging.

Her mama lays on the ground in despair, making very believable dying sounds. After she stops twitching, Angela sighs and grabs a blanket from the couch.

“Sad we lost another one,” she says to the quiet room and she slowly walks away.

“So, uhh, are we done playing?” Amanda asks from underneath the blanket.

When she gets no reply, she sits up and finds herself alone, surrounded by abandoned doctor toys. Amanda chuckles and busies herself cleaning up, waiting for Angela to come back with another idea.
