Work Text:

Every summer always ended in the same way, with a warm breeze that brought the scent of the sea air and melons from the farm. This one was no different, which for Sam, was a bit depressing.

The moonlight glimmered in the surface of the sea, irradiating the strange stone next to the pier. Abigail was smiling like a little kid, bent down in the borderline of the pier, her face was almost touching the salting water while waiting for the moonlight jellies to appear. Her childish aura could almost be smothered when placed in direct contrast to Sebastian’s, he could almost notice the hint of the rain in the wind and feel the melancholic start of the autumn just looking at the smoke of his cigarette.

“Abby, you will fall. Straight into the ocean.” Sebby said, blowing cigarette smoke. “And I will laugh in your face.”

“No you will not.” Abby replied without taking the eyes from the water. “Unlike you, I’m not afraid of the sea.”

“I’m afraid of nothing, don’t mistake me with Sam.” Sebastian teased, and for a second the blonde could see that annoying smirk on his face.

“Hey! Why suddenly I’m part of you guys' tiff?” He glared at him, pretending to be a mix of angry and offended.

Abigail laughs wrapped around his ears like the warm summer weather, it made him want to laugh with her. Sebby’s laugh came along like the feeling of rain on a gloomy day, annoying but still comfortable.

“Oh, shut up!” Sam shouted in a playful way, pushing Sebastian away from him.

Unfortunately, like the leaves on the trees beginning to fall as autumn approaches, Sam miscalculated the distance between his friend and the edge of the pier, throwing him into the cold water, in the almost midnight sea. Abby burst into laughter, while the blonde tried to not enter in panic. Oh, Sebby will kill him. Well, maybe not! They’re good friends, maybe he would brush it off and…

“Samson!” the black haired one shouted, submerging from the water with a long face.

Oh, for sure Sam was a dead man.

He lowered himself to the shore of the pier and reached his hand for Sebastian, who ungratefully took it and pushed himself upwards with the help of the waves that forced him up.

“Geez man, my mom will scold me again.” Sebby complained, sighing while shaking his head in a futile attempt to dry his tinted hair.

Sam gave him an awkward smile, “heh- my bad?”

“You fucking bet.” He replied in a passive aggressive tone, sounding moody as always, which was a great sign for Sam. “Can you at least give me your jacket, you own me that.”

The blonde groaned, taking off his jacket and handing it to Sebastian, who happily dressed it. They both knew the salty water would ruin the jeans in no time, staining it like snow in piles. Sebby smirked and gave up while Abigail laughed as if the summer would never end and the black-haired man smiled softly, trying to splash the water in a failed attempt to get wet, just like a wet dog.

Maybe autumn wouldn't be so bad after all.
