Chapter Text
After the events of BEAST, Osamu Dazai opens his eyes not to death—but to fur, whiskers, and a painfully undignified tail.
A stray cat in Yokohama.
Thrown back into a world that should have moved on without him, Dazai wanders its streets on silent paws, relearning the city in miniature. Weeks pass with him observing familiar faces living unfamiliar lives, slipping between alleyways, parks, rooftops, and the occasional black-market fish stall. He learns how to run again, fight again, survive again. And with each passing day, something stirs quietly within him—a strange gift forced upon him, awakening in stages he doesn’t yet understand.
One thing becomes clear: Yokohama feels wrong.
Time feels wrong.
Life feels paused, caught in a breath no one realized they were holding.
Still, he moves forward.
The Agency finds him.
Old acquaintances cross his path.
A few old ghosts do too.
And somewhere along the way—between moonlit rooftops, back-alley dangers, and the hush of a city waiting for something—Dazai stumbles upon the first thread of the truth. A truth tied to the world, the past, and a future that refuses to begin.
It is at the edge of that discovery, weakened and wandering, that he finds himself pulled toward a familiar doorstep a place where he once shifted fate's course for him long ago.
And when the door finally opens, the story truly begins.
What follows are the events you know—reshaped, rethreaded, and rewritten to suit the evolution of humanity, ability, and the tale this world demands.
