Chapter 1: Wedding March of Tragedy

Chapter Text

It was a beautiful day in the Hungarian principality of Transylvania. The skies were blue as could be with nary a cloud in sight, and the sun shone down upon a luscious green landscape situated by a large lake and overlooked by the Carpathians. A blue-roofed chapel with its central tower adorned by a cross was the sole building in the scenic environment; and in that place of worship on this picturesque day the wedding of a special someone had concluded.

Dual doors opened and out came the newlyweds arm and arm, all smiles as they walked down the dirt-paved path to the carriage that would take them home. The man of the hour was none other than Simon Belmont, latest in the line of the land's premier vampire hunting clan. He was clad in a pristine white tuxedo that all but concealed his muscular form beneath. Beside him in a pale pink wedding gown with the face of an angel was his childhood sweetheart Selena, most beautiful maiden in all the village. The two had been arranged in marriage from a young age and loved one another for nearly as long, and today was finally the day they wedded. Little did either know that the honeymoon would be over before it began. The skies above were rapidly blanketed by ominous grey thunderclouds. A bolt of lightning shattered the wood cross atop the chapel, heralding the coming of a black cloaked figure shrouded in legend that some referred to simply as The Vampire. For he was the lord of them all, the most dangerous of them all. Count Dracula.

100 years had passed since the fiend had a stake driven into his heart. He has once again been revived, and after a century of being deceased craved the blood of a beautiful woman. Happening to spy one such woman below, Dracula swooped down upon the unaware joyous couple and opened his cape, snatching a screaming Selena in his vile clutches while a bewildered Simon could do naught but watch as his beloved was taken from him in a moment's notice. "Unhand her, fiend!" He cried out, fists balled in frustration. But his demand was met only with faint laughter as the vampire flew off towards his lair, the rerisen Demon Castle, with captive in tow.

As much as Simon wanted to give chase this very moment, he knew it unreasonable in his current state even with a flared up temper. Luckily the nearby carriage he and Selena planned to board contained his usual vampire hunting attire and belongings. Once there he effortlessly ripped the top half of his tuxedo off, donning a set of light armor with matching boots in a shade of gray that left his musclebound limbs bare. Simon tied his trusty yellow bandana around his head framed by a blue mane, and seized the wound leather whip that was his weapon of choice against creatures of darkness.

With a crucifix held close, Simon Belmont set off in Dracula's direction.
