I found myself loving the characters, the action, and most importantly, the world in which RWBY takes place, Remnant. Over time, as the series began to decline in its writing, characterization, and overall style, I began to think about reimagining RWBY with my own take on the world of Remnant and the characters that inhabit it. On the first night Beowulf and his warband spend in Heorot, an unnamed Geatish warrior is killed by Grendel. So, I explored what might have happened if that unnamed warrior had been Beowulf's second-in-command and possible lover. Beowulf must make a descent into the underworld of sorts, traveling to Valhalla, Odin's hall for fallen warriors, to retrieve the soul of his friend.
Part of a university project. I wanted to recenter the pagan elements in Beowulf, so there are a lot of Norse mythology references. Also a queer retelling.
