Chapter Text
“Come sit in Daddy’s lap,” Corey’s raspy voice calls out to you, and he gives his thighs a firm pat. “You can set your milk right there, m’kay?”
He smirks and pretends not to watch you from the corner of his eye while you stumble to the coffee table, placing your quarter-full cup of strawberry milk down on the glass top. It thuds slightly, just barely from you dropping it a little too early and a smidge too hard. And maybe he notices that too, but he wouldn’t say anything about it.
You rest forwards on your crutches for a few seconds before finally stepping towards him and setting them aside. You rest them against the wood panel beside the sofa before letting yourself fall onto Corey’s lap with a gentle ‘oof.’
He greets you with a soft kiss on the cheek and fusses with your hair momentarily, letting you relax before saying or doing anything else. He grabs the remote from the cushion beside him, handing it to you so you can choose something to watch that’s to your liking.
You’re leisurely scrolling through channels, but it’s hard to pick, even with all the nice Saturday morning selections. All you can focus on is the soft affirmations emanating from behind you.
“Who’s my strong girl?” You feel him smile, cheeks puffing up and his face pressing to your neck. As if it couldn’t get any sappier, he wraps his arms around your waist and gives you a tight squeeze, hugging you from behind and closing his eyes.
“Mmm…” Another soft kiss, “You are.”
He loves you, he really, really does.
“…Scooby Doo is on.”—that earns you a chuckle.
