Work Text:
"Are we friends?"
For a split second, Morgue's expression suggested more emotion than an Eevee has evolutions, and with the same levels of variance between them. Curiousity, hurt, admiration, and confusion, to name a few. But just as it had appeared, it was gone, vanishing into a harsh and forced neutrality.
"...Don't ask me that."
Flicker would have flinched, but Morgue's paw keeping them in place pressed down just enough to be of some reassurance, despite everything. The pressure was grounding, but more importantly, kept them from doing anything- other than wriggling away, if they so chose.
Honestly, the response did sting a bit. But the truth was, Morgue was just as unsure as Flicker, weren't they?
Morgue's tail curled around Flicker protectively as they glared off at nothing in particular, as if keeping an unknown force away from them both.
